Abandoned supercars

To my untrained eye, some of these don't even look like the real thing.

Is it the real deal do you think? Can I live in hope that one day I'll buy a bit of land with a tumbledown shack and find it full of exotic classic sports cars...?

The first one (Miura) seems to have a cow catcher/rally lightbar on it  :0

All the rest look genuine to me and most are either accident damaged or rusted through....

Not sure I'd include that early 70s Corvette as a 'supercar' along with Lambos and Aston Martins etc ???

but the cost and hassle of getting any one of these back into running order would frighten most away..

..which was the reason they were parked up in the first place i imagine!

Real deal, I come across a lot of this type of thing during my work and know of several in locations not far from me (but not for sale)

People want an exotic sports car or classic but can't afford one so buy themselves a rotting or accident damaged mess to restore.  Quickly they realise they haven't got the skills to fix it but rather than sell it on they put it under a tarp in the vain hope that one day they'll get it back on the road. 20 years later this is what you have.

As an example, here's one I spotted a couple of years back.  After the bus company in question closed in the 60's they drove the busses into the yard and shut the doors behind them (there's three in there).  The owner then moved away to Austrailia but was an astute person as intending to restore them oneday he wrapped all the seats and interior in plastic to protect them from damage.  Although dusty both are in remarkable condition and needing minimal resotoration work.

It's also worth noting that these spent 40 years in this shed which is in the centre of one of East Anglia's most historic villages yet most did not know they were there until a couple of months back when they were wheeled out for the first time and sold for restoration.

That's fantastic! I can just picture those buses pottering along a coast road on the Isle of Wight in the height of summer

The F40 looks like a fake to me - overall proportions not quite right, very deep dish on rear wheels, side window details, wipers etc.

I know of a few MK1 escorts in a barn..... the farmer wont sell them BUT has no interest in doing restoration projects either.... some are too far gone BUT a couple look quite sound... not RS / Mexico though so restoration costs outways final value

1:  That TVR is actually outside the factory on Bristol Avenue, Blackpool - so doesn't really count as abandoned - it's not even complete (no glass for side windows/windscreen)- it was just a test platform.

2:  That GT40 doesn't looked abandonded, just in storage.

3:  The green Aston Martin (DB5?) also doesn't look abandoned - it's in a nice warm show room - looks like it's being prepped for restoration, esp when you look at the cars that surround it.

4:  The Lambo and the newish (458?) red Ferrari aren't abandooned, they are crash damaged - isurance write off's that aren't allowed to be restored or returned to the road.
