Bob Green Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Don’t be embarrassed if you do! Touching on a thread of mine and my thoughts on “old style” country music, in the very early’80’s, I was a European (called Continental then) driver and loved every minute of it. The radio programmes were generally rubbish so I would tune in to the American Forces Network where various music was played but one band that stood out like a condom machine in a Convent was Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen. The music was so bad it was good. Talk about truck driving music. It made C W McCall’s “Convoy” sound like a Christmas carol! The song that always sticks in my mind was “Mama Hated Diesel” and from that, I guess you get the drift of their songs. So then, who has heard or worse, if possible, have an album of Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen? Quote
V8grunt Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Just got the song up on U Tube...... That would have sent me to sleep when I was driving Abroad! Quote
Bob Green Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Unashamedly ripped from the Webternet. "I remember hearing those semi’s gearing down My mom and me we used to live on the high-grade end of town I sure like them wide Freightliners But there was something in Mama's eye When she catch me watching the road Lord a little bitty piece of her died" You really need to hear it. Er, 10-4 good buddy!! Quote
jerryhzx12 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 A few years ago, no doubt aftert a few pints, we tried to write a "one precis covers all" for C&W music, Result was, as I recall "I was drunk the night I ran over my dog, 'cos my wife had left me, but it don't matter 'cos I'm a truck drivin man...." Norman Verona Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I'm going to modify the Dukes saying "There's only two types of music - good and bad" to: There's only three types of music - good, bad and C&W" Quote
