Having borrowed them at my last job off other managers, they fell apart after 50K or 2yrs. The interior trim was terrible. I also found the steering wheels too big and the climate control had a mind of its own.

Save £££ and get a Vectra (which is the same thing)

my mate has one and recons it's fast and comfy but no good round corners.... just what you'd expect i suppose ???

I had the 2.2 tdi nice car but seat not hug me tight like a golfs.... Which made cornering feel not as tight.

Cheers John

we have the older model which is called a 900 served us very well for the last 8 years it has the saab engine as opposed to the vauxhall one been very reliable now done 110 thousand miles uses no oil allways starts first time used it to tow my race car all over the place . other than tyres and exhaust the only thing ive changed is the clutch dont want to do another one as it was a big job took me and a mate a full day its not an exciting car but does the job

I had serious intentions of buying one - the seats are about as comfortable as anything I've ever travelled in over long distances, but then I took a closer look at brother in law's car - same comment on the interio9r trim - really shoddy fit and coming loose on a car about a year old...

FYI, lifted from the other forum:

I cannot give any specific advice for these models but I have switched from SAAB to Volvo and can make some comparison. I was so committed to SAABs that I was a Director of the SAAB Owner's Club for a number of years.

The old pre-GM SAAB 900 was probably the best car I ever owned (that's why I kept it for almost ten years) but the ones that followed got worse and worse. My last SAAB was a 9-3 with switch gear from a Vauxhall Corsa and a crappy Isuzu diesel engine that had a thin plastic top cover so flimsy that it broke off when I rested a cup of coffee on it. Performance & mpg were awful.

GM really did their very best to kill SAAB stone dead. I hope that Spyker can resurrect the brand now they have access to the BMW parts bin, but things have got so bad I rather doubt it; to me all SAABs seem grossly overpriced for what they are; ageing models with old engines. The exception, the new 9-5, seems like an undertaker's parlour in the cabin; just not somewhere I want to be.

So, six weeks into my experience of Volvo, I have been looking for examples of Ford's dumbing-down, but I have not found any yet. I know that my V70 shares a floor pan with the Mondeo, but that is not necessarily a bad thing; the Mondeo is generally well received. It is certainly the case that all the bits I can touch or see seem of decent quality; something I could not say about my last SAAB.

I have no view one way or another on Saabs except I always fancied the last V4 engined 96.

FWIW I don't rate them. Driven a few, all diesels, terrible 'feel'.  Worst was an auto diesel, luckily only had it for 2 days.

Had 2 on our fleet as well, one of the drivers couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

Other had problem with inner edges of rear tyres wearing badly - watch for this one. Inner edge tyre blocks wear like 'saw teeth' and cause bad sound through suspension. Dealer never sorted it.

I have a "57" plate diesel powered 9.3 company car and average 60,000 miles per annum.  I have to say it has been very good in terms of all-round reliability.

Fuel consumption is not that good (maybe 54 mpg) as I spend most of the time on motorways (in town, it’s rubbish, for a diesel) and the cornering is not what I would describe as on a par with an F1 car but like anything in life, you pays your money and takes your choice.

One of the most important points for me is how do I feel when I get out of the car after a 300 + mile drive?

I feel OK.
