As the title says, heading off to Paris to visit the better halfs daughter who is a fashion model there this weekend, so to save me from all the "girly" type visits to Chanel and other expensive shops etc!! Any recommendations for plane, car museums etc to visit to keep a "techie" bloke occupied.....oh yes, I know about the Musee de L'Air at Le Bourget and the other "must see" Moulin Rouge but fear the SWMBO might have a view on visiting that place!!  :D

Stuart, try a day at the Pompedu Cerntre, a night at Montmarte (behind Sacre Couer. Check what exhibibitions are on at the Exposition centre at Porte De Versailes.

Or just walk around the centre of Paris and look up at the archictrure Blvd Hausmann is a good example as Hausmann was the archiect who designed it all.

A boat trip on the Seinne but this is a bit touristy (ie expensive)

I like to walk along the Cjaps Eleysee to Concorde turn left past Opera up to Cliche. Rge sex shops are far more acceptable now than when I first ent there in 1964  :)

If you walk along the champs Eleysee you have the Peugeot, Citroen and Renault display shops showing past present and future, there not bad for wasting an hour or two.

if you have a morning you can get yourself up to the biggest science museum in Europe (according to the Frogs!) at the Parc de Vilette (Metro line 7 and get off at Porte de Vilette) . As long as there arent too many rugrats on school trips it is quite good .

You could get yourself up the Tour Montparnasse (on the south side of the city and way cheaper than the Eiffel thingy. There are a few micro breweries near there as well .  In the afternoon you could even get yourself a Salsa lesson in a restaurant/ bar near Bastille  -- it would do wonders for your street cred and the instructors from what I remember are not what you would call munters!!

Fru, Is the obervation floor at Montparnasse still open? Las t time I was there it seemed tgo be a very expensive restuarant.

If it is still open then it's a must - fantastic views of Paris and it's archicture.

Well Norm, am liking the cut of yer jib...this weekend there is the Lingerie Exhibition on at Porte de Versailles!   I can feel the tongue lashing now as the SWMBO exits the Metro to see all the scantily clad models!!  :D  :D

Well, if you walk down the steps (not the vernicular - thats boring!) from Montmarte to Avenue Clichy you could take along the road and show her all the sex shops and then take in the lunchtime show at the Crazy Horse or Moulin Rouge

Got back from the Big P last week - what a place. Its been 20 years since I was there last and it was fantastic although it was bl@@dy cold !

Had the use of an apartment in the XVth, thats the south west side near the Eiffel tower and it was good.

Car related...? Well I just had to browse the factory showrooms on the Champs Elysee. Wet myelf over the SLK Merc that Clarkson was showing off in, in  TG a few weeks back, and the Renault showroom had the most fantastic concept cars imaginable. Ditto Citroen - not your ordinary street cars but some real exotica. Yep - waste a couple of hours there.

I would suggest you start there.

Stay cool...
