SID Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Hello from downunder land !!! First post so here we go! Im about to buy my seiw kit from an australian westfield dealer and i just wanted any input to the engine choice of SR20DE or the SR20DET , being a novice when it comes to engines i am wondering the amount of effort involved between fitting the non turbo version and turbo version ? weather any major mods are needed cheers Quote
s2k7 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I measured the RB20det from the bottom of the oil pan to the top of the valve cover --- 25 inches tall but nice engine. You can get away using the V8 bonnet. http://tinyurl.com/4hfqlgt Quote

tex Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 or you could try getting hold of one of the newer MR20 engines [2litre petrol used in the qashqai etc] been used for a while now - in the primera etc Quote
Guest Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Be careful which SR20 you buy as the ones from the S13 Silvias will no longer meet emission rules in oz. I would recommend an S15 DE or the neo SR20VE. more power without the hassles of a turbo and will pass the emissions testing. My Westy has a S13 SR20DE. As stated you must use the V8 bonnet as the cam cover sits up into the bulge and without dry sumping there is little oportunity of reducing the height of the sump. Not a bad engine and can be tuned for more power quite cheaply in comparison with other engines. Around $5000 Aus will get you approximately 200hp at the wheels DE's are capable of producing up to 300hp without a hairdryer stuck on them. Regards Greg Quote
cast iron Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 There was an article in Westfield World a few years back about the big Oz contingent using the SR20 so it must be possible MR20 is a lot heavier, I should know Quote
