Silverstone accommodation - where to stay?

Recommended Posts

Four of us (2 couples) have been lucky enough to be invited to the British Grand Prix on the Fri, Sat & Sun with hospitality package included. Has anybody got any recommendations for accommodation? I have provisionally booked a hotel In Milton Keynes but this will mean several 10 mile taxi journeys and I'm a bit worried how easy it will be to get one? (need to be at circuit for 08:30 on Sat & Sun) Another thought is to hire a motorhome and stay at the nearby campsite - has anybody done this? Any other ideas gladly received.

The closest one to the circuit at potentially a resonable price is http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/SILGRE/silverstone

prices go through the roof closer to race day, people move out of silverstone that weekend and rent houses out.

This has recently been rebuilt after the fire the week before grand prix last year

MK is do able but is really too far out, you will spend some time in the taxi (possibly 1hr) at a premium price

Hope this helps

better to camp or motorhome IMO even if staying in the village with all the traffic it can take an age to get into the circuit  :t-up:

You may find Motorhome rentals is a bit like hotels around big sporting events, bookings and prices go through the roof.

Get a tent and camp, you wont regret it, the atmosphere on the campsites is brilliant  :t-up:

Thanks for all the replies, already have all the camping set up and that would be my preference but the couple who we are going with (and who got the tickets) want a bit more luxury. Will have to see if I can talk them round to roughing it!

A few people, including teams, stay in hotels in Daventry, There's Staverton Park and the Barcello (I think, it keeps changing it's name) that are the 2 big ones, plus some smaller hotels and guest houses

Camping is very good , and, if you time it correctly and wander past the Hurdsfields caravan at pudding time , they do a marvelous ginger cake and custard , which I can highly recomend  :t-up:    :D

I live in Silverstone, we no longer do B&B, wife is on the ambulances there and I race marshal elsewhere.

However I can supply the Silverstone B&B co-ordinators phone number, its also available from local tourist information.

I will PM the number to you

Dave
