markcoopers Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 Not really given this much thought, so we have some options. We could go west on the A47 then eith the viaduct doad, the A6003 (cool tarmac) or a new road i found a while ago with Jason to melbourne ad back to Uppingham. Or we could do the B660 from either end and back (might be closer for the Cambridge chaps) Or we could head up over the Bourne way.......found an absolute cracking road by accident out east of Grantham/Sleaford way, called High Dyke....make me giggle as well. We could do the melton mowbray loop......might be a tad long Or what is teh B1040 like heading towards Biggleswade? I will be on 0797 3326642, We should meet at about 12.00 -12.30ish i would of thiought to get some daylight Quote

markcoopers Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 OK lets go with 1.30pm and meet at Peterborough services, the petrol station part to miss out the speed bumps. We can then go in any number of directions depending on the others/collective view. Sean, i don't have your mobile so i am on 07973326642 Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 sorry about lack of westy today folks - enjoyed the run out although not as much as you guys by the look of it that was fun on the way back Mark - your little motor certainly flies just a few piccies at service station A1/A605 the best angle for piccies was spoilt by the sun - at least we had sun langys machine - certtainly is quick machine - and is for sale too Mark and Sean curb crawling again Thanks Mark for organising - will defo get the westy there next time Quote
langy Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 that's why my hands were so cold on the way home, they were permanently in my pockets when standing around Enjoyed this afternoon Quote
markcoopers Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Enjoyed that, sliding around at all the bends/junctions. That last bit was actually pretty good, surprised how good actually, but the big patch of frost/road did spook me a tad. I was trying to wave you next to me for a little unscientific experiment as you shot past......mind you that scooby is quick, and so cool looking at 4 exhausts and a boxy arches. I did get home, but about 5 miles out i was consious of a cloud of steam in the rear view. All the guages stayed correct so i fooled myself into thinking it was my diffuser picking up sprey, til i stopped at home and saw a puddle of coolant appear on the drive. I had split (2mm long) a rubber pipe on the start up cooling system, syreying coolant all over the exhaust and engine bay....nice. I had been seeing some weep from a jubalie clamp on this bit of pipe which was really starting p**s me off, so have now replaced it. While doing this i looked at the new bit of pipe i had and could see that it was two rubber sheets sandwiching a cord mesh for strength. Looking into the pipe i could see that this inner layer was split, so just used a different bit......So i took a knive to the old bit and slit it along it's length to look inside. About 3" of it (8" in total) were split internally through the first layer of rubber down to the cord mesh, and a 2" section of the pipe had delaminated at this cord mesh. Essentially coolant had been traveing down the cord mesh within the pipe wall, getting past the jubalie clip and weeping. Know wonder i could not fix it. Never seen this before, quite surprised. Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 sounds like it might be a good idea to replace/check the rest of yer coolant hoses Quote
markcoopers Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 When they weep or split.....until then i'll drive it like i hate it. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 When they weep or split.....until then i'll drive it like i hate it. I would not expect anything else from you Mark - at least the tool kit was not required and we all made it home just picked up on what you said about the ice patches - I was mildly concerned - must have been a fair brown trouser moment for you oh and regards the back end looking cool - I have often been told I look best from rear Quote
