kikinoulator Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hello Guys ! My name is JJ ( well, it s Jean-Jacques, but JJ is easier for you ). I m french ( yes... i know, nobody s perfect... ). I will turn 38 in March. I live in Tangier, and Pittsburgh... Before, i hated cars... i was driving only motorcycle ( sport ), but now, with my wife... the life... i drive a car, shame on me ( but i still have some toys with only 2 wheels ). I currently drive a MX5 Mazdaspeed (turbocharge 220cv ), but in 2 months, i will have a new toy ! A 1998 Westfield SEIW ( 2.0L Vauxhall 180cv ). So i m here to learn about it.... I wanted to know if there was a big evolution on the frame, like it was done with Caterham cars ? I ll ve also to post a question about tires..... I m very pleased to be here, and talk about this fantastic toy, the seven.... JJ Ps : Today, in Tangier, Sky Blue, Big Sunshine... ;-) Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hi JJ and welcome Well you know you've come to the right place to find out all about the wonderful Westfield As far as I know, there's been no massive leaps in frame evolution from Westfield (why fix something that works well? ). The current frame is good for all driving types including the guys on here that do the sprints and slaloms but I would suspect that some of them may have added some 'homemade' extra bracing after a little trial and error. I'm sure someone will be along soon to let you know Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi JJ, there's been a steady series of small improvements here and there made to the chassis and suspension over the years, so it always pays to check with the factory, if you're not sure before buying any thing directly related to these parts. Particularly when it comes to standard wishbones! (there are also narrow, and SDV chassis/parts out there just to stir up the confusion ) Excellent choice of engine I'm sure it'll bring you lots of enjoyment. I wonder how long it'll be before the upgrade bug sets in Quote
RedditchJay Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hi JJ welcome to WSCC,,,,,,,,, the only place to tak about Westfields lol you lost me on your thread............. what is "sunshine"........... we are in short supply in the UK of this rare item. Quote
kikinoulator Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 Thank you for your message. I m very glad to purchase a Westfield. To be honest with you, i didn t knew the seven few month ago... For me, it was only the car of Number 6 in the prisoner. It s fantastic toy between the motorcycle and the karting ;-) I m just a little bit worry about to use the gear box with my left hand... ( it s a RHD ) This XE2.0 engine looks to be fantastic, and so easy to upgrade.... But first... i need to improve the driver, before to improve the car. Have a nice day... Best Regards JJ Quote
davidgh Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I m just a little bit worry about to use the gear box with my left hand... ( it s a RHD ) Bienvenue JJ Don't worry -- you will grope in the wrong side of the car for the gear-stick for an hour or two, but after that it'll rapidly become second nature. Far more concerning is looking in the wrong place for the mirror Bon courage.................... Quote
tex Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 i found using a car with driving on the wrong side is reversing - if you twist round to look = normal tin top car - try it - mostly whack your head on the door glass Quote
