echoz Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Morning all! Got a problem you guys might be able to help with. Immobiliser on my car has gone duff, or atleast the light on the steering column flashes red but when you put the fob in to disable the immobiliser, the red light just goes out and no green light appears. when you put the key in and turn it, none of the lights turn on on the dashboard either. the battery has recently been out of the car and it was abit iffy starting a couple times this week, but assumed that to be the cold weather. the cars an nissan micra slx 1.3 auto on an m reg. Ideas on a postcard please Quote
Captain Colonial Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Why was the battery out of the car, and is it still the old one? I'm guessing if it's the old one and you try to jump start it, it will fire up. Don't assume it's the immobiliser, as they take very little energy. If you put the ignition to Position II and turn on the headlights, you'll know straight away if the battery is duff from how much much or little light it shines. Quote
perksy Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Did you replace the battery with a new one or have you just charged up the old one and put it back on If so did you check that it was retaining charge correctly Quote
echoz Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Me old man did the battery for me, so i would assume he did the necessary checks, but will ask him. Just went and checked the lights, turns out i have a front light gone aswell but the dipped beam does seem a little dim and i cant get main beams to come on at all ie no change in headlight and dashboard light wont turn on. The immobiliser light on the steering column flashes red as normal, but when i put the fob in it goes a very dim red and then it goes out where as it should turn green? also it was out of the car to be charged as it was sat on the drive for 3 months and had gone flat, i got a lift to work today and a friend went round and had a look and tried jumping it with the jump leads, but apparently it wouldnt even turnover, no dashboard lights or anything :S Quote
perksy Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 As a Start, Get a Voltmeter on the Battery and report back Quote
echoz Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Mate is gonna come round and have a look, ill see if hes got one he can bring, not at home so have a lack of tools Quote

echoz Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 And its died again! immobiliser fried the battery terminal, at least i assume it was that. fixed battery terminal, but now its died again, immobiliser goes green, but with ignition on just get a rapid beeping noise, which is what was happening when the battery terminal got friend, altho it looks fine this time! Had a nosey through the receipts and found the immobiliser one, it was installed in 1995. It is a Shadow Vecta unit. Anyone heard of these, and would I be right in assuming they're no longer in business? The irony that the system thats menna make life easier is making things harder Quote
