JamesD Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Seen this stuff ages ago, you can paint it under your cycle wings to prevent stones from chipping the underside. Can anyone tell me where I could buy some from. Cheers JD Quote
peterg Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 James, I know Steppenwolf used it on his car and got it mail order so drop him an email for the contact details....I tried a Google search for suppliers but with no luck Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 I think it is Carlite RubberCoat but don't have a contact number Quote

peterrosey Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 I used this under my cycle wings and rear wings and it's excellent stuff (also used it to underseal my wife's jap import FTO). The only downside is that it's like treacle to apply and takes an age to go off - the FTO took about a week! But it's excellent when cured - I'd recommend it. Quote
CateringVan Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 I've also heard of people using Isoflex High Performance Liquid Rubber (from B&Q in the roofing section) as an alternative. I think its a bit cheaper as well Quote
ChrisF Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 I have also been looking for a suitable under seal. I tried the Carlife telephone number today.... but it is out of service Mark, Have you a supplier for stone chip guard? Quote
davew Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 Try car builder solutions www.nfauto.co.uk I have bought some bitsf from them in the past and they are very helpfull. Quote
Del Posted April 13, 2003 Posted April 13, 2003 Folks, I used "Wunderseal" from Car Builder Solutions on my wheel arches. It is a grey cellulose based elastomer. It is touch dry within a day (I did the job last November) and remains malleable. I applied just one thick coat by brush. This is a bit messy and the finish shows brush marks and stipple effects. I then applied a spray coat of U-Pol "Graviguard" stone chip protector (500 ml aerosol cans available from motor factors at about a fiver). This is also cellulose-based, so can be removed with thinners if you over-spray. I masked everything in sight. The stone guard hides the brush marks in the Wonderseal and leaves a pleasing matt black finish. 600 miles later it still looks good. To do all 4 wheel arches (cycle wings) you will need a tin and a half of Wonderseal and 3 tins of stone guard. Car Builder Solutions advertise in the kit car mags and are very helpful when you call them. The two tins arrived within two days of my order. Quote
