O/T GKR Karate

There I was minding my own business this morning when a chap from GKR Karate knocked on my door and asked if I was interested in going along to a local club. I've been looking around for a decent martial arts club to get back into it (I've done a fair bit in the past) so I said yes and sat through his spiel.

I'll go along and have a look this week but was wondering if anyone here has trained with them or has experience of them. The spiel didn't sell the group to me, sounded more like a business than a decent martial arts training organisation, but the chap claimed to have huge numbers of students around the UK

a four fingered jab to his adams apple would find out how good his training is  :D  :D  :p    :D  :D

:D That did cross my mind, though I was going to try kicking him in the head to see what happened.

I had a knock on my door from a chap representing a certain religous group (you know the ones). I invited him in, sat him down, and asked what he wanted to talk about.

He replied " I've no idea, I've never got this far before!"

if this GKR lot can tense there eyeball or nuts then go for it coz i have never seen anyone not drop like a sack of spuds when poked in the eye or soundly kicked in the nuts :D

We had the same, big, scary, ex-con look alike knocked on our door.

However he was very polite so we let him in.

To cut a long story short we signed up my 6 yr old daughter.

She has loved it, good exercise, discipline, gives her confidence. (and the ability to fight off horny teenagers in 10 years time  :D )

I also cannot fault GKR, they have been 100% supportive.

We did kick-boxing with a local group. Good teaching, nice guys, good exercise, fun times, kit cost a bit, but most of all the whole martial "arts" industry just feels like a pyramid selling exercise (pun intended)

If you get what you want from them then fair play and that's good for you. I'm going to look for a group that better matches what I'm looking for though.
