Hank Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I still can't believe none of you have taken pictures of your Westfields with beautiful ladies around it. Quote
Bananaman Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Hank that's a great looking car but i don't like the exhaust can with the long spout on the end!! Would look the dog's with a bigger round carbon can on it. I'm guessing that's a bike can on it at the moment? How loud is it and does that affect Trackdays over there? Quote

Would look the dog's with a bigger round carbon can on it. I'm guessing that's a bike can on it at the moment? How loud is it and does that affect Trackdays over there? I put a Yoshimura carbon muffler on the Megabusa from a Hayabusa motorcycle. The original look was amazingly simple. But, I had to add the turn down because the exhaust gases were turning the side of the car yellow and I wasn't ever fond of the smell. The turn down solved both problems. I have not tested the exhaust for loudness because the tracks that I race at don't require it. They are out in the sticks away from residential areas. Quote
Terry Everall Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Nice car Needs some ARBs maybe My carbon can could not stand the heat from the busa exhaust Quote

stephenh Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I think it is an inboard front one, Tel. Look carefully and you'll see the drop links parallel with the coil springs. Quote

Paul Aspden Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Having been in the very priveleged position of having driven a lot of westfields, I would say that the most influential was the MHC Carbon Car of the late 90's. Stunning attention to detail (As have all Mick's Cars), great engine (as have most of his cars), and a great driving car. This was the first track westfield I drove at Mallory park in the 90's, the memory is still one of exceptional speed and crisp handling. I think Mick is responsible for the development of many cars, as he set the bar high with the carbon car, then continues to develop later models. I guess when you've built as many cars as Mick has, you get to know how to put them together..... How many is it Mick? I can think of 5.. As for stunning road cars, the Tom Whittaker owned and developed Millington Westfield. I recall the first test of this car at Elvington, when Tom came to me telling me that the clutch was slipping on the straight when the car got to 6000 rpm in 6th gear, this was confirmed by the passenger. Having installed the engine I knew the clutch was man enough, so took the thing for a spin. Sure enough at 6000rpm the revs shot up, but so did the speedo....the wheels were spinning at 120mph in a straight line as a result of aggressive power delivery. The problem was later solved by mapping the engine properly. Having been a WSCC member for 20 years I've seen our cars evolve, some I like, some I like less...no prizes for guessing what I like less.... Quote
