Rob Navin Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I was thinking last night that we have never really had a thread about our favourite Westfield’s as far as I recall and I haven’t done a search Obviously with out a few ground rules we would all say our own cars past and present were the best so you can’t use a car you have owned. It can be a car from any part of the Westfield ownership, road, show, sprint or race. Your looking for the car that inspired you to build yours the way you did, or the one that you would want to own above any other. Let us know what it is and why you picked it and photo’s if you have them. I’ll go first. Mick Coopers - Carbon Sprint car ( pre Oliver’s Mount fence mod ) It was the first Westy I ever saw that really amazed me. I first saw it at Oliver’s mount on my very first sprint. The car to me was everything that a Westy should be and the attention to detail set of the spark in me that I have tried to match, but never really got close to, ever since. There were a lot of other very good cars out at the time but Mick’s had the edge for me. He has put some cracking cars out there before and since but that one stands out for me unfortunately I have no photo’s. So any one else want to follow on and waste five mins ? Quote
Blatman Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Micks first carbon bodied atmo Cossie powered car for me too My sprint car has the rear wishbones from it... Quote
Bananaman Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Rob, I was the Blue car i bought off Mick, i went down to buy a trailer off him and saw the car and fell in with it... 260+bhp, 6 speed seq quaife box, soo much pre-preg carbon fiber and that loverly baby blue lightweight bodywork! Mr Cooper sure does know how to put a westfiled together! Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 hmm, a bit awkward really, the thing that most influenced the style of car I would later want to build wasn't a Westfield, it was the JPE Caterham's. Having said that, Del's orange beast in VX trim, (I was building my VX engined car when I first saw it) would come close. Quote
JeffC Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 sorry but for my personal choice I will have to break your rules but as a multiple westy owner i should be exempt after owning over a dozen of them my 2nd westy (1st busa) is the one I would vote for, loved that car got abused for 18 months over 8,000 miles on track and it just loved it only failure in all that time was a £2 seal in the end it wasnt a pretty or tidy car , it wasnt particularily well put together but it did everything wanted it to do , everytime i jumped in it was look putting a pair of old slippers on remind me why i sold it had a succession of cars after that and yes I had faster but I dont think any of the were as good as a track slag Quote
echoz Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Jeff i really liked the 1500 busa you had in black and yellow and my old mans westy the first time i went in that, i was grinning ear to ear for what felt like days unfortunatley he sold it Quote
JeffC Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Jeff i really liked the 1500 busa you had in black and yellow I did too up until the point it s**t itself and cost me £5500 Quote

JeffC Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 first time I went to Croft to watch the speed series think would have been 2004 ish ? ? I remember getting exited over Smithys yellow Vauxhall powered car that looked quick and very well bolted together too dunno what had happened as this is the only but strange pic i have of it Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Two for me The black and silver FW400 when unveiled at the 1998 motorshow at NEC and ACW's multi-coloured V8 beast Both were original Quote
oioi Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 yet to see another westie that i want to own other than mine. its something about having a car that has developed with you, you have changed, modified, improved and when you slide into the drivers seat you feel at one with the car. you know exactly what the car is going to do. 50,000 or so miles gives you that feeling. also im yet to find another car that has shark graphics. having said all that - i feel inspired by an XI. having had a short half hour drive of one I really would like one. Mark Stanton Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 better be quick Mike XI's are soon to be history Quote
James Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 This one I the colour scheme and the attention to detail was simply amazing! some ideas from that car have been mixed with my own and added to my car, its simple agresive classic and yet modern for me it tick's all the boxes. But I also agree with Oioi my car feel's like mine because ive built it then rebuilt it and rebuilt it again and if I get bored for five minutes I take something else off. My car never really had a plan its evolved all by its self and somehow got me to pick up the tab, one thing led to another but Jeff's green car inspired me to do the same on my car although it didnt stay like it for long Quote

I would love to be back at the beggining of the journey again with so many posibilities for the car! Quote
