TIG Brother Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 My father has had his credit card scammed after using what he believed was the westfield parts website, currently the website does not contain any secure certificates when you go to enter you're card details into the order section on the website, when you have entered your details and clicked proceeded in then forwards you onto a Vietnam paypal address and asks you to re-enter you're card details again. with a random yahoo email account as the recipient, now i have never ordered from there before, but some thing really doesn't seems right. this is the only site my father has used this card on, and the laptop is free from any malware etc etc....... has any one else had any issues? and does the website always forward you onto paypal after you have put in youre card details on a previous page? Mark Stanton Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Perhaps you'd best call Westfield asap just to check things through ........... there site may have been cloned and hacked Quote
TIG Brother Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 only found out tonight mark, but looking at it, lots of things on the website doesn't stack up, like dates, and layout etc, the order was made on the 15th of last month, so it seems it has been like this for a while. Quote
TIG Brother Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 its the forwarding you to a paypal account after you have clicked place order on the 'genuine website' Quote

Mark (smokey mow) Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I've used the online store in the past but not for about a year. in the past you entered credit card details (not through paypal) and the factory took payment on despatch. I normally phone up however as I only ever seemed to receive 50% of the orders I made online, the web service then was always a little bit hit and miss. Quote

pistonbroke Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Essential to give your bank a ring to I would have thought Quote
TIG Brother Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 I think luckily for most of us on here that we know to actually call them and not go via the website. It would be interesting to know if any other have been caught out. Digging a little deeper it seems the web address that it's using don't stack up either. I know the guys up there have to input the card detials into a machine by hand which means the information is only being relayed from the website to an email address at Westfield. A very easy hack for scammers. Quote
Uncle Fester Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I had my credit card hacked about 2 weeks ago. The cheeky b*******s phoned my CC company and requested £4000 to be transferred. They even changed my contact phone number. They knew my name, address and work address. Having read this thread it suddenly clicked that I tried to order something from Westfield online (because they didn't answer the phone ) at that time. The transaction put me through to a Paypal screen and wouldn't allow me to pay by CC. After b*******ing about a bit, I gave up and rang Westfield as the payment didn't go through. Guess where I get my Westy parts sent? To my work address. Too much of a coincidence?? Quote
TIG Brother Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 i have been in contact with Westfield today, and things are being looked into. Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 It sounds like their payment system has been hacked. It happens to the best of them - recently iTunes were victim to a hacker that redirected buyers of iBooks to a Chinese(?) site and once your details were 'captured', they used them to automatically 'buy' a whole series of fictitious books with the hacker being the beneficiary. By the time they closed them down, the culprit(s) were gone! Quote
