dave_t Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 As above ... can anyone help with any history on this Westie? I recently purchased it, but the guy I bought it from knew very little about it. Quote
SteveD Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 what spec etc etc bit more detail would help and a couple of pics Quote
dave_t Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 Thanks Steve I've put a couple of pics below. It's a chrome yellow SEiW, with a 2.0l Zetec & Type 9. The spec is the problem! I can see it's got a Raceline water rail/ Raceline sump/ Avo shocks/ Jenvey TBs/ Westfield repackable exhaust. I've been told that it's got a balanced/ lightened crank and flywheel, with uprated pistons and cams. But I'd like to confirm exactly what these are (without dismantling it!) and also confirm who built the engine, etc Quote
RedditchJay Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 nice looking car and THE BEST COLOUR Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 IIRC, for a small fee, you used to be able to send in a request to DVLA who would send you copies of past V5s. From there, you might be able to trace the past owners. HTH ps - I see from your first pic that you bought your car from Toy Box. How was the transaction if you don't mind me asking? Didn't you get a lot of docs from them? Quote
dave_t Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 3 former keepers, according to the V5, Steve Bombero .... thanks for that, I didn't know that And a quick Google shows that a completed V888 form and £5 should give me access to whatever data the DVLA holds. It does say it can take a few weeks to get the info, but I'll send it off tomorrow Yes ... the car was from Toybox. Andy was helpful .. he was happy to hold the car for me (as the first person showing genuine interest) and accomodate several trips over there over a week or so to view/ try the car. He, however, only provided the original build manual, V5 and MOT as docs when I bought the car. He was apparently not supplied with anything else by the previous owner. Hence my several trips there to make sure I was happy with the car. I do now, however, have the problem that I have no idea what has been done to the engine or who built it ... which I'd like to know before I start tracking it next year! Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 You're welcome and good luck with your search Most builds have a documented/photo'd history so fingers crossed, you'll get all this soon. Another thought - was the car factory built? Maybe Westfield can shed some light on your quest Quote
dave_t Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 No ... it was a self-build. But hopefully the V888 search set me off in the right direction. And I'm still hopeful that someone off here will recognise the car @RedditchJay ... thanks! You are so right! Quote
Pew Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Welcome and yes the best colour... Hope to see yout out in it in the spring with rest of us.... Quote
Matta Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Bombero - Well THAT photo wasn't taken last week..... Cheers, Matt ps - I couldn't even get the AWD Volvo out until today (4 feet of snow in the drive), let alone the Westie - was getting withdrawal symptoms, so went out to the garage and sat in it for a while yesterday!
