Terry Everall Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I want to copy about 20 or so VHS tapes to a more modern format such as a CD/DVD What options do I have Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Hook up your VHS to a DVD recorder check out Maplins you can always find suitable cables and connectors etc quality may not be up to professional standards Quote
Asterix Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 But what if your VHS is broken? No, my old tapes won't fit my betamax. Quote
a4gom Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 my vhs packed in a few months ago, i have loads of tapes so set off to town to pick up a cheap player but there were none available. came home and did loads of searching and cheapest i could find was £60! it's only a couple of years ago they were selling for less than £20?? Anyway i needed one but decided it wouldn't be a bad idea copying my more important ones across to dvd so looked into the options. I priced up having it done professionally and it was going to cost a small fortune. In the end i bought a dual dvd recorder / vhs recorder, it's the dogs! you can copy in both directions, copy from other sources; tv, sky, it's built in freeview receiver and it's usb port through which you can view your photos, play music, watch films. It wasn't exactly cheap at £140 but it will soon pay for itself when i find time to start transferring. Quote
RedditchJay Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Terry.............depends what you want copying.....lol Quote
Tigger Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I think Mark Boyce off here does this sort of thing, why not give him a shout, may get a WSCC discount Quote
Terry Everall Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Got the software and leads from Maplins bu now find that the video player has white and red connectors for audio out but nothing for video out Quote
Terry Everall Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 There is a scart port but how will that help me Quote
Asterix Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 SCART out on VHS to SCART on DVD. Or if no SCART on DVD, then buy a SCART to red, white, yellow input adaptor. Oh, and separate tip, when recording to DVD, if there is an option to "finalise" the recording, take it (as that will allow you to replay the DVD on a greater number of DVD players) - even better, convert the DVD to a data file.
