SteveD Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 is this not called ringing? and you will be arrested for it now everyone knows no its not ,its just the same as re shelling a car Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Its ringing if you sell a car with a false ID (chassis / reg No.) If you sell a used chassis with no ID as a track day vehicle should be fine ................. problem is further down the line if someone else decides to ring it Quote
ACW Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I cant believe your considering such as drastic change to your existing car. It would be better to sell the car IMHO and build a new car the way you now want it. Quote

Mark (smokey mow) Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 If you rebuild the car around a new (or previously unregistered) chassis with a different chassis number then it will require an IVA test. If you purchase a new chassis from WF with the same chassis number as presently on the car then an IVA will not be required providing the chassis is the same as the one it replaces. WF will require you to return your old chassis for disposal or cut out the tube bearing the number and return that to them. You would then be free to dispose of the "collection of tubes" as you see fit for use on a track car etc but technically this could not be sold as a westfield as all identifying markings and numbers would have been removed. Adding additional bracing to a chassis would not requre the car to undergo an IVA test, however any structural alterations to the chassis (not including like for like accident repair) for example if you were building a semi spaceframe twin bike engined mini then you'd need an IVA. jeff oakley Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Nothing wrong with a re chassis at all. It only becomes a problem when you do something which is intended to deceive. By rebuilding an exsisting car with a new chassis is fine, if you dispose of the chassis with no identification at all as a used spare again that is fine. Westfield always ask for the origanal chassis that is badly damaged to be destroyed to stop repaired Westfield chassis being used when they should not be. So a MK or such which uses the log book off a Dutton, clearly they are not the same. Quote
