Gutted for this chap - a stark reminder of the need to carry a fire extinguisher ;

Is that not powder from an extinguisher on the side of the car and the ground next to it?

Tbh though, unless you've got a decent sized 2.5? litre hand held I'd have thought you wouldn't have much chance, and even then you'd need to be pretty quick.  :down: trouble is, then that'd encourage you to tackle it, which may just turn a catastrophe into a tragedy.

I suppose a plumbed in system gives the best/safest chance of tackling it.

struggling to believe that all them cars that went past not one of them had a b****y fire extinguisher  :bangshead:

surprised that the fire did not get to the fuel tank to be honest

A few Westfielder's aside, I don't know anyone with one these days. We've trained the last few generations to "get out, stay out", so, sadly I guess that's what happens now.   :down:

Hmm i guess, still was a really nice looking motor, watching my pride and joy burn to the floor then be waterlogged i would be highly volatile. Is there no such thing as a nice person anymore?

Poor sod!

I carry fire extinguishers in all my motors on account ive had two of them catch fire. And its no fun watching them go up in smoke.

Dont think i would have gone back for the side screens either.

I know it's someone's pride and joy but with a full tank of fuel it's also a bomb on wheels, if it's got half a tank full then it's even worse.

Looks like the bloke nearly did it right, tried an extinguisher then walked away and phoned the pro's to come and deal with it. He just shouldn't have gone back to it after he'd got on the phone.

someone did stop - right at the beginning - think they had the extinguisher - it wouldnt of done much tho as the fire was under the cover

Gutted for the guy, unfortunately I know that totally useless and sinking feeling you get having watched my MK2 RS2000 go up in flames.

Once the fuel pipe goes your pretty much stuffed as it keeps spitting out more and more which then catches alight again due to the heat.

Never go anywhere now without an extinguisher and have pulled over on a few occasions to offer it.
