Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 must admit I do not particularly agree with spying on her - if it was me I would do the cleaning myself for a day so I knew exactly what could be done and to what standard in the allotted time then ask her to do it to that standard - if it is not done then say your goodbyes However if you really want to monitor then why not buy a couple of those cheap cameras off ebay - the ones many people raved about for use on their westies - from memory they can be set to work on motion detection - discrete and cheap and you have a little toy for the motor when its duty is done Quote
Bob Green Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Does anyone know what equipment I need to monitor her activity? My PC could have a webcam attached and pointed at the front door but would I need any particular software so I can monitor it remotely ie live feed, recorded, eail ? Thats a bit extreme. Are you thinking of using Laser trips to set off the camera which in turn will lob in a stun grenade. Look in the mirror (if it is clean) and ask yourself the question "Is she any good at her job, given she is cheap". Dependant on your answer, you will know the next course of action. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Can you not manage to be "working from home" during a couple of her visits, and see if the standard of work improves while your there? Or you may find that there's some other problem that she's having? Or that she's just crap Quote
Simeon Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 I can't take this anymore. I'm just going to kill her and be done with it and it'll all be your fault with your laser trip wires, 007 and russian blonde spies. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Gut reaction, like I said before, be very, very careful going down this route. If it's just a question of cameras recording your front door so you can check when she arrives and leaves, and you make her aware that you now have CCTV, perhaps tell her you're worried as neighbours have been burgled. You should be fine. But if you're seriously considering covert cameras inside the house, as a result of which evidence you sack her, and she finds out what you did... You could be in for a whole world of pain and some BIG bills. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Assuming it's for outdoor monitoring, then some of Cleggy's cameras connected to one of the little hard disc recorders available from Mapllins, Ebay etc. The recorder will let you set up areas of the camera picture to be motion sensitive, and only record when an event is happening. Many can also be set to email you when an event is triggered. Posher ones will either email you a picture/video clip, or let you log on remotely via the web to view what's happening. (Getting dearer now though). BUT, if it's got this far, I'd be investing the energy in finding a replacement cleaner. Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 The standards relating to covert monitoring are satisfied if: * specific criminal activity has been identified; * a need to obtain evidence by covert monitoring is established; * following assessment, it is concluded that informing employees would prejudice the gathering of evidence; * a time period for monitoring has been identified; and * the provisions of RIPA are complied with. For Fecks sake. Lets not get Brussels involved. I'm now guilty of Human rights abuse, covert spying, employee abuse. Anything else? Ok to rephrase the question. I would like to monitor activity at the front door whilst my wife and I at work. It will be movement activated as the dog will go nuts. There you ****** go, no cleaners, no spies, no Bob Geldoff, no Mother Thresa or Martin Luther King. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Like I said earlier, cameras aimed at door, record to hard drive or PC, you could use wi fi type cameras to save on cabling, set up motion detection in the recording software, saves hunting through lots of footage of nowt happening and Bobs your uncle. Mention in passing you've installed CCTV for security, and you've covered your bases. (and though not CCTV related, I have had a client taken to tribunal by a cleaner so it can and does happen ) Quote
Blatman Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Leave an obvious "mark" or "stain" or some other "evidence" in or on an area that should be cleaned as part of her duties. If it's still there after she's cleaned, you can ask if she's cleaned "xxx". If she says yes, show her the "evidence" and ask her to explain how she missed the mark/stain. No human rights act to worry about, no camera's to buy, just an employer asking an emloyee about the qualty and diligence applied to the required tasks... Quote
