o/t - lack of joined up thinking

Before the tax expired, applied for tax disc for wife's car by phone.

"Tax disc should be with us within 3-5 working days." Says they.

5 working days later, tax displayed on the screen expires.

10 working days later, no tax disc arrival.

Phoned up today.

Replacement being sent out, should be with us between [irony] "3-5 working days" [/irony].

"So", I say, "Is it taxed?"

"yes", says he.

"And", I say, "if she gets pulled up by the cops, will that be enough mitigation?"

"Well", he says, "I've known it where the police accept that as a reason and also where they don't".

Y'know, I doubt that it'll be noticed but anyone know where we stand until we get the disc?

The silver lining is, he was in a UK call centre (i.e. not offshored)

Check it on the vehicle enquiry on dvla site.

If it shows as taxed thats what the police computer in the car will say.

Dvla will not in my experience prosecute for failing to display a current tax disc as its just not worth the time.

Did you get a verification email once you taxed it online?

if so Bobs yer mothers sisters brother  

if not avoid them PNC cars and cameras

The police are generally tolerant if it's taxed but not displaying.

It's the new green band patrol you need to watch out for, they have read the rule book you know? And they will ticket with no mercy or brains!

Have you checked the DVLA site as suggested?
