Bob Green Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 I use Windowlene and some kitchen roll. I clean the screen and the wiper blades with it. Works for me... I have tried that. The screen is great for maybe an hour then starts to smear. Maybe a new screen is on the cards. Silly, I know but it is really p*****g me off. Having said that, I will give Rain Ex and white vinegar a try and let you know. Quote
V8grunt Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Hi Bob. I had the same problem on a car I once had, Tried everything including the "Vinegar" thing! I came to the conclusion that someone had used the "Anti Rain" stuff on the screen and not done the job properly. Still like it when I sold it! Quote
Norman Verona Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Not sure what type of screen fixing you have but if not bonded then clean the rubber with vinegar. If bonded then clean around the edge of the screen. Quote

jeff oakley Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 You can get a product from Comma which is screen scrub. It will clean it better than anything else. On a normal car there is no need for additives as using a good quality screen wash in the bottle all year round is fine. If you wanted you could put a drop of washing up liquid in it as well but bear in mind that that has an amount of salt in it that is corrosive if you do not wash the car regularly. I would never by Rain X as they are a primary sponser of Brake who are so anti cars it is laughable that any company selling to car owners would support. If you must have a product like this try Perma Clear, it is a product that you add to the washer bottle so if the screen is clear before you add it it will coat properly and top up every time you use the washers. Have a look on youtube there is a video of it on there. Quote
blankczechbook Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 stop tailgating and getting so much road muck on the screen :-D a proper clean up and new set of blades.. i had new blades from Halfords once, but from a small store - they were older than the ones i took off and squeaked worse.. - went to a big store which had a big turn over - got them swopped them over and job done. fresh rubber - works the best. RedditchJay Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 agreed..... good clean screen, maybe even witha little CIF cream in, proper de grease and new, fresh rubber on the blades...... winning combo drain your screenwash also and start again with a known mixture Quote
Gromit Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Could be the springs on the arms have lost a bit of tension and thier not putting enough pressure on the blades. Quote
