mikef Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Bum! The week before last was not a good week. On the Wednesday night I went to see my daughter and parked, as everyone else does, on the right hand side of the road. On Thursday, as I was leaving work and closing the works gate behind the car I noticed a large gouge in the left rear wrap around (Honda Accord Tourer only 4 months old). Upon closer inspection it looked like a BMX bike had hit the rear and one of the footrests on the front wheel spindle had gouged the plastic. There were knobbly tyre marks just before the gouge. On the Friday, having lunch with some colleagues, half a tooth fell out and my dentist doesn’t work on Fridays. Whilst it’s wasn’t particularly painful, I certainly knew it was missing! On the Friday night I drove down to Wales and after a lousy 3 hour journey and in the p*****g rain and dark managed to scrape the left rear door and wheel arch of the car on my own gate post. Gate post 1 – car 0. The damage is just in front of the above mentioned gouge. Doh! I had already booked the Monday off and had to spent it at the dentist and getting a quote for the repairs. £1850 + VAT. If bad things come in threes, I can only hope those were my three. Perhaps the worst thing is suffering the numerous “humerous” comments from colleagues about my age and ability as a driver. Sod’s Law – I’m 2 months from retirement after 20 years with a company car and this is my first prang – fingers crossed and touching wood – not that I’m superstitious! Still, nobody died and nobody’s pregnant. Quote
