steveyoung66 Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Is anyone from the WSSC attending Monday's trackday at Bedford autodrome run by easytrack? Quote
steveyoung66 Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 hi langy, enjoy your day. If it is with easytrack or if you have used easytrack at bedford before this year, i think they are offering an open pit lane event at bedford on 6th dec for just £49. Quote
SteveC Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 we will be there in the team mx5 and tame racing driver in tow, cant miss it, subaru blue with "Kieren Clark" down the side come and say hello. Steve Quote
langy Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 It's with Circuit Days. I just hope the weather is better than it is at the moment. Hope you aren't getting too damp. Quote
SteveC Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Big up for Steve Young, today weather at Bedford was attrocious, standing water everywhere for all of the day, and he kept ploughing round (or was that boating round) on Toyo 888's, take my hat off to ya. (great looking car btw) The only open car to brave it on track, even the cateringvan had one of those woosey tops on, and we kept our hard top on the MX5. Not many cars turned up, and I suspect a few came in the their daily car. Great day to practice car control.....I did a nice 360deg spin at about 70+ ...just kept it off the grass, oo er Quote
steveyoung66 Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks for the kind words stevec, really nice to meet up with you, really sorry i did not get back to chat a bit more, i think in total on the final mopout at home i had a 3/4 full bucket of water in the car footwells and under the seats!! at one point i was braking and it all slooshed into my boots and i think at that point i was beginning to think enough was enough.... I would of run without sidescreens to aid visibility but at times it felt like being on Tiswas with buckets of water being thown at them so though better of it. I doubt the conditions could ever be worse so going to book the dec 6th one for £49 and hope for a nice day..well dry at least. Quote
markcoopers Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Steve you are mad. That said i would recomend drilling holes in the floor to stop the sloshing. Quote
steveyoung66 Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Hello Mark, good to hear from you..and yes i think i must be mad!!, ive heard thats good idea and will sort it out when i referb the interior, the lowered floorpans are good but a bit of a water trap...suppose some blind grommets that can be removed would work fine Quote
GINGESEIW Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I was surprised myself how well 888's work on wet roads but never been out when really wet. How did you find them? Adrian. Quote
steveyoung66 Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 I think they surprised me as to the grip they gave considering the conditions were dire, some understeer when they had no grip in standing water but a lot more overall grip than i had expected, they are great in the dry so overall happy with their performance. ideal world would say have 2 sets of wheels with r888's and something better for wet but costs Quote
