SteveD Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Hi - just noticed your posts - everyone is really welcome. including the other clubs if they're reading this. Its the usual meeting next month (2nd Dec) and a few people the last couple of meets asked if there's xmas lunch so if people can make it, let's eats as well ! - Whipping stocks are doing traditional xmas turkey dinner but standard menu is still available. I wonder if an email list would be good to supplement the events forum? Cheers Pete would be a good idea to have an upto date members list for the area ,and like you say email details , or even have a cheapy club mobile phone (there should be funds to get one)i even have one i would donate and have members numbers then just txt them details of things then you can get details to em even at short notice for , meetings ,xmas dinner and such like ,then everyone knows about things not just the chosen few ,simples have you taken over as ao pete as its summat else no one knows about ,if so good luck i wish you all the best it will be very rewarding for you if you make it work ,steve Quote
nikpro Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Email list is a good idea as is Txt messaging - we must remember people like Marshall; who is a craking guy, do not have access to interweb. Quote
SteveD Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Email list is a good idea as is Txt messaging - we must remember people like Marshall; who is a craking guy, do not have access to interweb. good point about marshall there fraser, thats why imho club mobile would work better than email and also not everyone remembers about the club night , so rather than just posting on here as not everyone checks here , send out a txt to everyone who's number we can get in the area ,job sorted Quote
A2Bplus Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Thanks Steve, and for the feedback Fraser, I'm not AO but lots of people are suggesting it - I'm happy to take it on in the new year unless somebody else is interested. It'd be good to get people's preference on which comms they prefer. My guess is that both Email and the web site will cover most things for most people that are a month or two away and text for more immediate news updates, and for those who prefer it instead of the internet, like Marshall ? Just an idea Pete Quote
SteveD Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 sorry if i come accross a bit sharp pete dont take it the wrong way but there is no comunication at all and has not been for a while, i have had feedback from a few people and they feel exactly the same ,it used to be a good active area with good turn outs and at xmas , we have some very knowledgeable people in the area and superb engineers also some good characters we need to attract them and everyone else we can to back meetings and get them involved ,again just my thoughts ,steve Quote
Mark B Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 Steve & all, No it's not a secret, I was going to take names at the meet, but when I spoke to Kevin (the landlord) he only needs a few days notice as it's a set menu (which was on the wall in the pub opposite the bar btw), and with many people missing from the meet I decided to put it on here instead nearer the event which I will do shortly, and will also announce information regarding the ao position. In the meantime if you have any other questions I suggest you send me a pm directly instead of adding onto an old thread, I don't tend to revisit them after the event and was only made aware of your comments the other day. Regards, Mark. Quote
