zvezdochka Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Have realised that best way to fit remaining bits and pieces will be with rivnuts. Any advice on where to buy cheap tool and inserts or any one prepared to lend for a couple of weekends in S Manchester Cheshire area? Beer/wine tokens waiting Cheers Rick Quote
Westfieldman Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 I have one but its in Cleethorpes. The postage would be nearly the same as buying one Paul. Quote
peterg Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Merlin Motorsport do one for about £30 but it's not as durable (read well made) as the Sealey Tools one I bought a couple of years ago on the other hand if you want a cheap one that will probably last long enough to finish your car then ring Merlin Quote
Fat Albert Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Cheapest I found was here £25 + shipping but is only for use with aluminium nuts, probably not a problem for a Westie build but I'm no doubt wrong and will soon be told. I got more hits by using Nutsert (another brand name) as the keyword. Quote
peterg Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Albert, that looks identical to the Merlin one that my mate has bought and is does do the job OK on his kit (not a Westfield ! ) but previously he had been borrowing mine and said the 'Merlin one' takes twice as long to set the mandrel up after you change rivnut sizes and it didn't feel very substantially made so doesn't expect it to last very long Quote
Fat Albert Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Thats probably why I paid £60 for an Eclipse/Spiralux one from Motorserv. I think I might need it But he did say a cheap one Quote
tomo Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 Make sure you can get spare mandrels for them. I bought a cheap one and then had to buy a professional one - Avdel I think - from a fastner distributor and it didn't cost much more. Simon Quote
JimNoble Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 Have a look on rswww.com for their "clinchnut tool"... They sell the AVK rivnuts aswell. Jim Quote
ACW Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 another vote for the RS tool. Mines done heaps of rivnuts on different cars and still works well. Quote
