V 8 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I would like to publicly thank Howard for letting me drive his car this year. It has been by far the most enjoyable year in the SS so far, and Howard has done a great job of repairing, maintaining and upgrading the car, especially after my visit to the scenery at Loton. He has made a massive improvement this year and the team spirit has been immense. The little car has been so reliable, with modest power and no trick transmission, has held off much more exotic machinery to finish third in class F behind Barry and ACW and seventh overall A great season, with good friends, great Craic and camaraderie, and huge competition. Thanks and well done to all Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Howard must have the patience of a Saint good to see you back. What's with all the old Speed Series competitors coming back in, might have to do it myself Quote

Howard Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Thanks mate, it's been a pleasure The demonstration that the car could go quicker with a more capable pair of hands at the wheel certainly showed me that I couldn't blame the car - and I knew what I had to do. The feedback on the car and the opportunity to compare datalogs has proved very useful in learning where to find the extra speed. But the biggest help has been the mental approach. Tommo's talks have been invaluable - improving my self belief and mental fortitute, and I know several other drivers have benefitted from his unique pearls of wisdom. He may have questioned my sexual orientation a few times but it seems to have worked Also, a grateful and respectful nod to Gary Smith for his observations and advice on the set up and springing (which reminds me, I must pay Tigger for the springs). The car has been a great and resilient little fighter, punching above its weight. Looking forward to next year. Not sure what we're doing yet, but this year was certainly a good'un. Thanks everyone!
