Dave Posted March 9, 2003 Posted March 9, 2003 Changed my old alloys today for some OZ 15 x 7 ET 37.with 195 x 50 tyres ( the car is a 1991 sei wide) Why o why do they look crap??? They don’t fill the rear arches and make the car look narrow. Are the tyres to narrow for 7J rims? The only markings on the old alloys were 33.these filled the arches quite well but were 14 inch 185 x 60's. Any ideas boys? Quote
ACW Posted March 9, 2003 Posted March 9, 2003 Dave, with ET37's on a 91 SEiw I am suprised the back wheels aren't rubbing on teh chassis. On my 91 chassis with detacable rear arches I am running ET17 with a 20mm spacer to fill the arch. OZ wheels are unlikely to be much use in this width as they are only availiable IRC in ET37 in 7 inch widths and above. HTH, ACW. Quote
Dave Posted March 9, 2003 Author Posted March 9, 2003 Hi Adrian I bought the wheels from a club member in Scotland, they are brand new and were apparently taken off a later wide bodied car that was unfinished?. They don’t foul the rear chassis, there is about 15mm clearance from the side rail, but it does look close. I spent all today P***ing about with the cycle wing brackets in an attempt to make them fit. Is Et37 OK for later cars ?? or is it a FWD offset?? If they will fit any later cars I will advertise them, if not I would not like to lumber another member with the same problems!!! Thanks for the help. Quote
neilwillis Posted March 9, 2003 Posted March 9, 2003 I was told ET35 by the factory for the latest cars. I can't see an extra 2mm making a huge difference. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong however. Quote
markg Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 you need some spacers to put the rims further out from the hub mounting face, i bought 7 inch et 15 rims for mine and they are not lost in the arches like et 35 or 37 would be! a 20mm spacer with an et 35 wheel will give an offset of 15 so why not get et 15 rims to start with and dispense with the need for spacers?
