dreed Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Preparing my car for next year, currently have a small powder hand held one. Blue book states AFFF not powder. However, if entering in the roadgoing class do I need to carry an extinguisher, if I do I know it will need to be AFFF. I know it would be advisable but do I have to have one. Dave Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 not mandatory and when at events marshals posts are regularly spaced and all carry suitable current certificated and tested extinguishers Quote
SteveD Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 imho its more hassle having one than not ,i have had hand held and fully plumed in and its loads of hassle at scrutineering ,checking dates checking firing systems etc etc ,as above they have on mashalls posts Quote
dreed Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Many thanks for answers, will take out powder one, solves any problems. Dave Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 But remember not to have very much fuel in the car !! Just enough for 1 or 2 runs. Quote
dreed Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 That makes sense, might even make me go faster, I hope! Dave Quote
thos Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Doesnt take a lot of fuel to start a fire. http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=82823 This was right at the marshalls so very lucky, but what damage would another 15-20secs have done for someone to run over? And how much is an extinguisher? Plumbed in fire extinguisher in my car, thanks very much. Quote
