king_tut Posted March 6, 2003 Author Posted March 6, 2003 Hi guys, Im 23, and have 5yrs no claims. Insurance on the 2.5 V6 Sri Vectra is approx £800 for me, and on me V8 Landys bout £290. So insurance costs wont bother me by the sound of it. Ok so what would i expect to pay for a 16V version, i assume they pack more of a punch? Yeehaa Bumpy ride suits me to the ground... earth shattering performance and spine crushing ride is what im after! Cheers king_tut (Graham) Quote
chrisbin Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Well Graham You should find a decent 16V (either Vx or Zetec) from about £8k. You might be lucky and find one for a bit less but they're rare. And prices will be starting to harden as we get some reasonable weather... Look on This site, Find It.co.uk, Auto Trader, PistonHeads and the classifieds in Whick Kit and KitCar mags. Join the WSCC and you will receive the bi-monthly mag which usually has at least 10 cars for sale. HTH BTW Crossflows don't usually get more than 150/165bhp which is where 16V units start - a standard 2.0 Zetec with twin carbs should give about 165bhp. Start tuning and 200+ is accessible. Vx starts at about 175/180 and can be tuned to 200+ easily. Quote
studbuckle Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 give me a few weeks and you can have a ride out round catcliffe in my 8v X-flow with live axle rear and just the right amount of noise I'm 30 and my insurance is £180 ish My 1990 SE x-flow (standard when bought) under 6K up to Factory built 1997 SEiW with 2litre Zeeeeetec 9K in between those you pays your money for what you want. If you want something V8 or a bit trick or new then 10K+ and if you want something that needs TLC or quite old then sub 5K Si Quote

king_tut Posted March 6, 2003 Author Posted March 6, 2003 Hi Studbuckle, Cheers for the offer of a spin out in yours, would much appreciate that. Let me know when you're free and i'll take you up on it in exchange for some beer tokens as they say. I think i'll stick with a non 16V model then, as i dont want to spend loads really on a toy that will be weekend use. £6k i can handle. Will keep eyes peeled. Autotrader have quite a few for under £6k with not many miles on, but they can be very far away like 150 miles... but then thats only a couple of hours i suppose. I think i have been bitten by the Westfield bug!! Graham Quote

Graham When I was looking for mine last year I scoured the country, and in a few cases went over 250 miles........then, after seeing a car that was patently not the one in the piccie I decided to get real and set myself a limit of 150 mls. I reckon you should try and see a few cars "locally" - get a feel for them, then if you see something worth travelling for, then at least you will know what you are looking at. Good Luck! Quote
