v8 stew Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Has anyone used PROCOMP MOTORSPORT in Birmingham for suspension set up, were they good bad indifferent thanks v8 stew Quote
DickieB Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 John Loudon does and rates them very highly. I also know that the Locost championship (my new thing) rates them very highly as well. I have spoken to Ivan Gilmour a couple of times for advice only - very knowledgable and helpful - with no strings! Richard Brown Quote
neilwillis Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Can you let me know how you got on, because I shall need my wee beastie setting up too soon. What sort of costs were involved etc. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 They've set-up a few cars for road and track use, seem to have a good name with a friendly ameniable approach and willing to talk to you Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Yes - all of the above plus they know what they are doing and get the job done. Anything Westfield related, they know how to make it better. Prices are reasonable too. JL Quote
DickieB Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 See, I thought John would be along soon! Quote
v8 stew Posted February 20, 2003 Author Posted February 20, 2003 Thanks for the info, will defo give them a try,its about time i had it set up properly, never been altered just the basic factory check/set up after registration.Being as Westfields are all about good handling never been happy with mine [probably down to my driving],because there's so many adjustments that can be made i thought i leave it to the pros. v8 stew Quote
s_kibble Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Just to add my thoughts... Ivan serviced and set up my car about two weeks ago. He made an excellent job of it and the prices are incredibly reasonable. Ivan really knows his stuff and I am sure you will be delighted with the results! Let him know we recommended him. Quote
VeeEight Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I am taking my motor along to them in two weeks time to have the full suspension set up job. Let you know how I get on. Phil Quote
VeeEight Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 V8 Stew Had my S Eight set up by Procomp on Saturday. They spent from 10.00am to 7.00pm working on the car and would have given me bed & breakfast, included in the price, if it was neccessary to finish the job. I stayed with them all the time and they explained what they were doing as the job moved from one step to another. Very pleased with the results and would reccommend them to you all. 4 cups of coffee and 3 ham rolls were also supplied by Ivan's very nice wife. Phil Quote
v8 stew Posted March 2, 2003 Author Posted March 2, 2003 Thanks for the update Phil, will be speaking to them in the near future to get booked in for mine to be sorted. v8 stew Quote
JonnyBoy Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 any idea of cost please? i need to get my suspension sorted... i'm guessing its either them or terry nightingales (unless there is anyone closer to nottingham/loughborough) 9 hrs at £30ph seems a bit steep though Quote
VeeEight Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 Total cost including coffee and ham rolls was £160.00 Phil Quote
JonnyBoy Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 a little more than nightingales, but then i really like the idea of being shown and lead through what is going on...... first time i had my car RR'd i wasnt allowed to stay and watch...i felt like i'd missed out on a few years of my kid growing up (not that i have kids..i'm just speculating ) Do you feel like you could now have a go at adjusting the setup yourself phil? (i'm not asking you to do mine btw ) Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 Not bad V8 £22.86 per hour its got to be the cheapest labour rate since the early 90's!! what's the car like now?. There's nothing better than when your car's been set up properly. I didn't realise Nightingales were still going? thought they'd folded. Mind you Nightingales always tried there best not to sell you anything unless u had bought your car there, or like I had trying to buy a set of shockers. what a fiasco!. Now I know you can't just thow at set of shockers on without matching it to the rest of the suspension. I was threatened to be rung back on a few occassions when it got near the time of perchase but it never happen, so I ended up buying a set of rose jointed ledas from Andy at Cat Motorsport. I use Paul @ Plays-Kool Motorsport in West Yorkshire 01924 680100, for suspender set up, they are excellent. Lots of advise etc.Plenty of coffee, no rolls tho' but the warm friendly verbal abuse is absolutely free . they are now selling a range of Anti Roll Bars F & R wide and standard which I have placed an order for. See U SS boys at 3 Slappers. Altho' I will not be competing I will be there for a gander, Plus to sell Tim Nunn his Jacket back!!. Buzz Quote
