Once contaminated with the oil in the diff used for lubricating the c&p its becomes much less effective and the diff will eventually turn into an open diff. the cost of rectifying this and the availability of the fluid means they get scraped rather than repaired. windy Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 Some have reported problems with wearing out the viscous unit that controls the LSD action, but I have never actually seen or heard of some-one having to replace a diff because of this problem. I stand to be corrected (almost immediately, no doubt) on that. Ah Blatters you can't have spoken to me then!!!! Replaced 2 in the space of a year cos they reverted to a std diff. That's when I decided to put my money into the ATB diff to avoid the hassle of getting my hands dirty again and again at the scrappy's and spending yet more and more movey over and over again. Got bored of that after a while. For road use the std LSD is fine. If you are not using your car aggressively in competition or trackdays then there is little point in shelling out for an expensive ATB. There is the saying "all the gear, no idea", so don't buy an ATB unless you are really going to use and know how to use it in a way in which it is intended for. Windy Quote

Anyhoo, that's still only 4 confirmed burnouts out of the several million produced, and even so, I'll bet the ones that went were well on the way before they ever saw the back end of a Westfield.......... Besides, I've seen you drive. You spend about as much time sideays as I do posting on here. I'm not surprised you've shagged a diff or two...... Quote
