simon pollen Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Hello harry.... Got my new roll overbar today only 7 days after order and considering they told me 4-5 weeks because of a shortage of tubing and then to have it chromed I think that is #### good.... How are you dude...... Quote
Nick A Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 I am sure I have read that it is not advisable to chrome roll over bars ? may be wrong ? Quote
adhawkins Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 As far as I'm aware it's a factory option, so don't see why it should be a problem. Andy Quote
Blatman Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 There *may* be a problem with chroming RAC 'bars, and then them being allowed to be used in an RAC event. We discussed it a while back, but I can't remember the conclusions we came to One thing to bear in mind is that chroming means dipping the metal into a liquid. It's possible that the process begins the corrosion process, and you'll never know how badly the bar is corroded until the chroming drops off, or the 'bar fails........ FWIW, when it was brought to my attention that chroming may well weaken any metal it's applied to, I got it stripped off my wishbones, had them checked for cracks, then got 'em powder coated. Never again will chrome be applied to any structural or safety related parts of my car. A non RAC bar isn't a safety item, mind, so it doean't really matter as much........ Quote
