Fuel tank capacity

Could somebody tell me if there is more than one size of stock fuel tank.

I thought they were all about 26/27L?

The reason I ask is my Stack gauge never reads above 18L, although I suspect that the previous owner dialled in a fairly generous reserve....?

Cheers.

The standard tank is around 26 - 28 litres IIRC.

The long range tank is larger (obviously) and needs a modified boot box to enable it to fit.

18 litres is about 2/3rd's but as with any fuel gauge, it's more important to be accurate when it's getting near to empty rather than when it's full ;)

The long range tank is around 41 litres. I think the FW tank is only around 20 litres

I was told by the factory (parts dept) that it was 4.5 gallon, so yeah, about 20L

It is tiny.

Thanks folks.  The link below seems to show that a standard tank is 27L, and a SEight is 50L.  It's a bummer that the Westfield catalogue shows a standard and oversize tank, but doesn't state the capacity.

I fitted a long range tank to my car and it definitely will not hold 50 litres.

In theory it could hold 45 litres based on dimensions but the way the filler is positioned on the side means you can't get the last 5 in.

I agree with 27L for the standard tank.

Just had to do a search for FW, didn't know they did a Featherweight option.

Yeah I have a long range. I fill it to 38litres at 40litres is starts flowing out of the filler.

i bought an old westfield tank as it was a good deal and got it modified with a sump. Its only 20 ish liters so you may be right on the size of yours.

edt: it might be the case that mine is not a westfield tank, however when talking to several different people and descibing it they all have said it sounded like an old style westy tank
