AndyMoss Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Having a look at getting the ride height roughly set on my ( almost finished ) car. At the front I have a single locking ring secured with a small grub screw. Put the car on stands and atempt to adjust but the amount of force required is quite significant ( and the Westfield "C" spanner is not the best tool in the world ). Anyone got any hints or tips - thought about compressing the springs - should this be required ? - Of course the springs are too small to use standard spring compressors. Quote
Blatman Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 Bit of WD40 at the top and bottom of the spring, where it seats on the .....er.......seats, should ease it a bit. Otherwise, it should be a bit stiff, 'cos you are compressing a 250-300lb spring (at the front, assuming a car engined car) with a spanner that's only about 6" long. It'll take some effort..........rears may be a bit easier.........softer springs, see...... Quote
Turbo Tommo Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 If you have standard length springs, then they are still fairly well compressed even at the factory ride height. The more you back them off the easier it gets. If it's still very stiff when you get the ride height down to the 4" area I would consider some shorter springs. I've got AVO's all round and I can adjust the springs down with my hand. Winding up is more of a problem. maybe you do need a little WD40 on the seats as Blatters says hand on coat Quote
