dombanks Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 after replacing the battery on swmbo's lorry the link cable from one battery to the other is now too short by about 0.5cm. i plan on getting a new cable but in the interim, as she wants to go out tm and i didnt anticipate it being too short is there anything i can do to "rig" it. the cable links the two 12V batterys together and has an isolator switch in the middle. the switch is connected using ring terminals crimped on the wire. i was thinking could i undo one of these and add in a 1" length of steel or something to extend the ring terminal as a stop gap, im just not sure this will be safe? Hammy Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 IMO it would be fine as long as it doesn't ( or can't) touch anything - wrap in insulating tape to be sure. It will probably corrode up fairly quickly but for a week or so , why not Quote
dombanks Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 thanks hammy its what i thought, it'd just be for while the new cable bits arrive. i wasnt sure having the isolator switch on this cable was the best palce but it seems ok Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 or an odd lenght of copper tube , say 12 or 15 mm flatten the ends and drill for terminal bolts Quote
