Brucester70 Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Just went home for lunch and drove the westy to work, switched it off and there was a bang from the exhaust. Am I right in thinking that as it was a very short journey the engine was running rich and their was some unburnt fuel being burned and thats what the small explosion was? Quote
westy Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 depending on where you live they could of been real gun shots Quote
fordy Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 more than likely - i assume your running carbs - if your on throttle bodies then id be a little worried,. Maybe worth getting your carbs re-setup, they may be running a little rich, which is bad as it can cause bore wash, and wear your bores out in a few thousand miles. Do you have a choke ? cheers chris Quote
Brucester70 Posted February 21, 2003 Author Posted February 21, 2003 I am running carbs and have had them balanced a few months ago, they said they were running a little rich, but that it wasnt too bad at all. I need to get some bigger air filters and then get it set up properly! Anyone else got their Westy out today! Come on its Friday Quote
steppenwolf Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Anyone else got their Westy out today! Come on its Friday Oh yes, just got back from a superb blast in the Westie. I had a single box of printing to go to a customer about 12 miles away and the sun was shining, the sky was blue, the roads were dry - obvious what I had to do really! Ahhhhh ...... this is one of those 'good to be alive days' ... Quote
Brucester70 Posted February 21, 2003 Author Posted February 21, 2003 I was thinking the same, sitting at my desk sun coming through the window, westy outside, birds singing. I just popped to check on it, but now realise why the birds were singing! They have crapped on the seats!! Quote
