Brucester70 Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I have an annoying squeak when the car is cold, if I depress the clutch it vanishes, but returns when I release the clutch. Do you think that the clutch release bearing is worn? Quote
Bananaman Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Hi Brucester70 I've had this problem on a Zetec Car with MT75 gearbox, it got progressively worse untill it stranded me in Wales I belive it is a common problem on these cars. Andy Quote
studbuckle Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Brucester70> sounds like you'll be ok unless you go to Wales What engine/box have you got? Not that it makes much difference but would help to guage how big a job it is Si Quote
Brucester70 Posted February 19, 2003 Author Posted February 19, 2003 I am running a VX 2l with a standard Type 9, what do you think then? Quote
studbuckle Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Sounds like it could be the release bearing but could also be something as simple as a build up of old oil on the bearing face. Has it been stood for any lenght of time or has it been in the damp? Quote
Blatman Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Mine does it on the green car. I'll be fixing it just after it falls apart........ FWIW, many years ago, my parents had a car which did this (A Triumph Herald, IIRC). It lasted for years..............YMMV. Quote
