rob iles Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 i have just finished fitting new loom, and just wanted confirmation that the solenoid is wired up the correct way, as i have no diagram to work from. i think its a austin item, car is a 91 SE .1700 xflow On the l/h there is one bolt and two spades, to which i have put main +feed ,alternator and +battery lead. In the centre is one spade, soleniod to ignition switch. On the r/h there is one bolt ,which has starter motor lead. could someone please confirm wether this is connected the right way round or not, as i dont want it going up in flames cheers in advance rob Quote
Paul Ash Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 wheres the earth wire connected? The large bolt terminals sound ok, battery feed, alternator feed and 12v take off for ignition & aux. all onto one side of large terminals. Starter motor lead to other large terminal. Are there any markings / numbers around the spade terminals? Normally you have a 12v feed from the ignition switch when in the start position and on the opposing spade connector an earth, so when you turn the key it operates the switch/solenoid and basically connects the two large terminals together. Is one of the left hand spades connected to the large terminal? ........................ . . Ign....... . .....Earth . * * . . Bat + . Alt/aux s/m . ........................ Quote
