markg Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 just ordered a set of 4 wheels, question is do i need a spare fitted to the car for sva test. dont want to spend any more cash than i have to! Quote
Westfieldman Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 No But don't go with the spare wheel carrier on empty. Look on my home page thats how my car went through SVA [pre number plate photos] Paul. Quote
Pmaltby Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Even thought the spare hanging over the back looks good, i can think of loads of better things to do with £150. Quote
neilwillis Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Like getting a tow off the motorway when you have a flat? Quote
Sooty Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 A BMW motorbike tyre repair kit not only costs a lot less but it also weights a lot less Quote
Blatman Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 ......and won't **** the tyre beyond repair like tyreweld either.............It's a no brainer......... Quote
markg Posted February 17, 2003 Author Posted February 17, 2003 how does the bmw bike stuff work then?? Quote
Blatman Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 It's a patch, not "stuff"......... You plug the tyre with a mushroom type patch from the outside, so no need to take the wheel off, or even jack the car up. The kit comes with all the necessary tools, glue, patches, and compressed air cannisters you need to patch, and re-inflate the tyre. It's a "get you home" type repair, although I have tested it up to 70mph on my bike. Get to a Kwik Fit asap, and they can do a proper internal patch repair. If you use tyre weld, the tyre is not suitable for a tubeless repair, and there is no point (and it may even be illegal) to put a tube in to a tubeless tyre. I keep a BMW tubeless repair kit on me at all times in my spare-less Westfield. I don't give punctures a second thought.......... Quote
