silverknight Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hi right the dog has been sorted and i am left with around 4k and can save up for a westy over the next few months ready for the spring. as it is winter i will need something with a roof and heater. I have been looking at toyota celica st205 GT4 as driven by carlos saintz. wondered if anyone had owned one and if so what to look for ? seen some nice examples for around 3-4.5 k thanks gaz Quote
SteveD Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 why not buy summat that will be easy to sell when you want to not summat that will hang around or you will have to give away when you need the money to buy your westfield anyway, partners wife had one ,pile of poo Quote

carpetstu Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I owned a Celica wasn't a great car and in the wet it will try and kill you! Quote
dombanks Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 doesnt the gt4 share the same engine as a mr2 turbo? if so then go for the mr2 over the gt4 they are both grey imports? (i dont think there was a uk spec gt4) Quote
wilsonch Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 There was a GT4 uk spec but the vast majority are imports. dont know if you are bothered about insurance costs but expect a big bill. The turbos are a weak point unless they have been looked after (but how do you know). part availability could be ticky as its an import. The GT4 is a nice car if you have the time to stick with it but as a winter toy... no. Buy something cheap to get you over the winter and use the rest onthe westy Quote
wizzer Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I had a celica st same shape as gt4 very nice car to drive and never had any problems with it, said that the gt4 is a different animal it was sold in the UK for two years so parts are available, why not get a scooby for the winter loads more choice and it will sell on after Tony Quote
Bob Green Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 ok ok i am gay ! Funny isn't it; how some quotes confirm your thoughts. Quote

silverknight Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 thank gents done the whole scooby thing and not worried about re selling it, would be a weekend car as i have a van for work also have an mx6 which is coming off the road over winter for some much needed engine work. I am happy to stick with it, it would be kept till i got bored of it . Just sold my legnum vr4 estate so that money will be used to fund the replacement which the first on the list was a gt4. thanks gaz Quote
