jrcasey Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 Hello again. You've all been very helpful before so here goes again... I am in the process of buying my first Westy (have seen a few now), but am having trouble finding what I want. Can you help me please? The first thing you need to know is how what I have burning a hole in my pocket! Well it is £8500 (plus a bit POSSIBLY or MINUS(! if the right car can be had for the right price). The spec I'm after is as follows: - SEiW - Type 9 gearbox (75 is to big) - 130 (ish) reliable bhp (it will be my only car) - Cycle wings - Quality ('water tight' weather gear (it will be my only car) - Floor mounted pedals if poss - High back seats - Tidy body - Chrome rather than black detailing - Sorted electrics!... (e.g. the speedo should work when the heater is on!!! I think that is about it... I look forward to the responses Jon ' NEED a Westy Fix real bad' Casey Quote
Mark Stanton Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 Possibly too many specifics Black detailing can be easily swapped for chrome - if you're gonna use it everyday black powdercoat could be easier to keep looking tidy. Floor mounted pedals why - nowt much wrong with top hung Floor mounted - You'd best ensure a hole is drilled under the gas pedal - I've seen far too many with small stones or twigs get stuck and keep the throttle on full chat, not a pleasant sight. 130 BHP - you should get more than that for £8500 seats can be changed Keep Searchin Check out the club mag - always has loads of members cars for sale Quote

Buzz Billsberry Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Hi Jon You should get a resonable car for that sort of money probably with a zetec or a vauxhall 2.0ltr 16v with 130-160bhp plus as our leader said priorty is to get a decent car 1st. Personal cosmetic details are easy to change and there is always someone who will buy your old bits. I bought my SEi Wide with a xflow in it 2 years ago for £5100 and it was mint for the price(took him 5 years to build it) I think the guy was sick of the time and effort he'd put into it plus it drove like a pig because he'd put the same poundage springs on the rear and front but he didn't know that 'kaviat empt tor' (I think that's how you spell it) I always say. But since then the car has had major changes and I have invested rather large amounts of money into SBD and Plays-kool motorsport . Its funny when u buy a westfield .. a big hole appears.. and u start tipping money into it, but u promise yourself that YOU won't... what happens is.....I think I need this, probably will need that, I'll just buy one of those thingys, it definately needs some of those ,these ,them and I can't be without that and the lads at the club say I need one of those etc, etc, etc, etc, etc Its like an obsession with a girlie you just can't get it out of your head!! . But if your married your partner will put an end to that or saw your willy off with a piece of wood with a nail in it Have you tried findit or Terry Nightingales websites?? Keep looking , it only took 3 years to find mine!! Buzz Quote
