I think I no the answer to this one but what the ####.Is it at all possible once a westy has a q plate to change it.If it can be changed (dont think so) how and who do I need to talk too.

From other threads on this subject, I hear that there may be a change in the rules regarding Q plate swapping later in the year.

At the moment, nothing doing though.

Cheers I thought as much.I never realised #### was a swear word......... ???

Its not too clear....but as far as I can see there appears to be a possibility of doing this, providing you can give DVLA the right info., but I think we are waiting for someone to prove it.....!

Only change I know of "later in the year" is that there are going to be personalised Q plates available.....

Try looking here: http://wscc.ggr.net/cgi-bin....86;st=0

(sorry, still haven't worked out how to do the classy "here" and cover up the address, but hey, it works!;)

Thanks.had a look at the dvla link and it appears the end of 2003 may be the answer to all our q plate problems.

Easy chaps. When you click the Hyperlink button, type the script prompt with the URL. Click OK, and then the next prompt appears, Just type in what you want to appear as the link, and click OK. Job done.

Or, to do it manually you do:

the click text

So that would be like this????

If that worked, then you're right, its very easy. I was previously just cutting and pasting shortcut hence not so obvious!

Cheers Stu

(If this hasn't worked, ignore all the above....   )

You got the 'this' bit right, just need to put the right URL in!

P.s. you can check to make sure you have got everything right by testing your link in 'Preview Post'.

Cheers, Stu.

Cheers!

NEWAY Guys, Back to the question in hand.

i have just finished my build and passed the SVA with a recon ford zetec engine module from westy, the age of engine is 1992, but i got a MW52*** number plate when it came to regestering the car.

I simply phone westfield and talked to Richard Smith and he sent me a letter stating that the engine and gearbox had been "reconditionned to an as new standard" took it to the DVLA Manchester and hey presto a brand new car.

Do i need and MOT next year though or cos it is a 52 number plate does it make the car exempt for 3 years?

HTH

Cheers Pete ;)

I don't think you get a 3 year exemption on a kit car.

I've wondered about that too. I haven't found anything anywhere yet that says you don't though ... I would have thought this would be stated on the V5 if it were the case.

I thought I read it somewhere when I was looking at buying mine.

Wouldn't swear to it though. Anyone who's built a car in the last couple of years comment as to whether it needs an MOT every year from registration?
