When I picked up my kit, Westfield bloke went through ALL the bits and checked them off on a long list.. took some time, but at least I was sure I had everything Westfiled though I should ;)

Turned out my Cycle Wing Brackets don't match my Cortina uprights, but I'm toying with the idea of new alloy items anyway... Thats the only gripe I have, which is an understandable mistake I suppose...

I did only get a started kit and a few other bits, but I guess if you buy the full modular kit statistically, there are more mistakes likely to be made.....

I thinl most people tend to find the odd bit here or there missing.   I suspect with such a variety of configurations, expecting a complete inventory without the odd mishap is difficult to achieve.   At least Westfields are happy to send the missing items out quickly, and without quibble.

My thought on the subject is that Westfields should provide a comprehensive parts list for each item/module purchased.   That way, you can run through the list, and satisfy yourself that all is there before you leave the factory.   Am I just thinking too logically here?

I too have had a lot of missing parts but as everyone says, the factory are good about sending them on.

I think part of the problem might stem from the fact that Westfield is a predominantly a factory for building sports cars that also happens to sell parts to the great unwashed (may be just me :D ) masses ;)

Totally agree that a bit more Q/A would benefit both parties though...

ordered mine , 8 weeks before i wanted it! the only problem was one of the ally panels ! and the lads at the factory soon swapped it ! so maybe try giving more lead-in time for new orders??

I built 2 in two years. Had the same experience. All I can say is that I got the bits in the end and it cost them more than it cost me in phone calls. It pays to get in with one of the parts guys who genuinely wants to help as he did me. Only thing that really stuck in my throat was they always manage to find the parts for finished car sales Why ? Already got our cash but not the factory built buyer. For what its worth I challenged a senior company member on this state of affairs and was told Westfield isnt Ford or C******m for that matter and the pressure to catch the market early gives them problems. I have some sympathy but nevertheless couldnt be bothered building a third. Also just think how much time updating the build manual would save, rather than 500 people phoning for the same supplementary sketch to be faxed ! Basically the support organisation is too small to keep up the pace, if it wasnt we probably wouldnt want to pay the prices.

How do they compare with other kit car manufacturers?

I feel that with the wide variations in kits, there is always going to be some confusion about who needs what bits.

The manual has been superceded, and they haven't updated that in any way.   Parts inventories?   I had a nice box full of nuts n bolts, all separated by module, but still there were bits missing.

It has to be a mammoth task to keep ahead of evolution.    :p

Here we go again.

Thought i would have my say.

When i went to pick my rolling chassis kit that i forked out near on £5500 on i got their and half the bits were missing,(not a happy chappy!;) a few moans and a lot of questions later a team of their staff appeared with spanners and started taking their factory built cars apart for me, (not a problem but a bit poor). eventually i had the rest of my steering system and susspension, then they found a heap of aluminium panels from somewhere for me.

By this time i was p******** off big time,

Next thing they took off a car was the front brake assemblies and the rear suspension! but they didnt have the top ball joints and the rear wishbones, kinda vital parts hey!

Eventually i have most of my bits even though i had given the factory 2 months to compile my kit.

A month after this i had ran out of parts to put together and was still waiting for the wishbones and ball joints, out with the pen and paper and off went a complaint letter first class.

Three weeks after this i recieved the wishbones and an odd pair of ball joints, Many pennies worth of phone calls later i recieved a matching set of ball joints.(OH, still waiting for a reply to the letter 6 months after it was sent)

After this a still have the usuall missing bolts and not enough rivits but now i have sh*t loads of spares, even a pair of spair hub nuts and washers, also a handfull of roseball joints.

Sorry  about the lenght but i couldnt let an opporunity like this pass by without a reply.

If NE1 from westfield reads this i am

Peter Maltby who lives in Poynton SK121HX

just in case a freebee is a token of good will! or even a reply to my letter dated 6ish months ago.

Good by!!

I will have to admit that for the past 9 months I have been reading all this stuff about missing bits with amazement :0

I found it hard to believe that a `kit` car manufacturer cannot offer a `kit` of parts, after all thats what they set the business up to do ???  ???

Sounds to me that Westfield are being run on accountancy practices and therefore do not hold a large inventory.

The reason for posting is that the first order i have ever placed directly with Westfield was for an RAC roll bar............................

Guess what   :p  :p  :p

Parts were missing  :0  :0  :0

Sounds to me like they need a new parts store manager big time.

By the way, if they offer a kit and suggest build times, if that kit is not complete and you can prove that it could not have been built due to missing parts etc you should be able to get money back (sale of goods fit for purpose and all that)
