McSpreader Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Haveing plates of meat in the size 12 regions, it only increases my problems with regard to lack of room. One solution I have pondered is to get a pair of racing(ish) boots. Any ideas where I can get hold of some (in the Daventry area if possible) as not too keen on ordering out of the DT catalogue and putting it to luck to get the right pair. Ta Simon Quote
Nick M Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 Try calling some of the local kart tracks to see if there are any shops selling kart equipment near you. Kart boots are cheaper (not nomex lined) but just the same dimensions as "proper" race boots. I've got a pair of Zapelli kart boots which I bought because they were a better fit than some of the Sparco ones I tried on. That said, Demon Thieves are pretty good when it comes to returning stuff provided you return it unused so you could order some and see what they're like. PS like the colour of your car in the avatar ! Is it the bright blue ? Quote
ricdiggle Posted February 2, 2003 Posted February 2, 2003 I got Sparco Karting boots from demon Theives too. I think they were £15! Worth the risk I reckon. Quote
adhawkins Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 Second the mention of kart boots, that's what I wear. Fortunately I already had a pair from my karting days. They're Sparcos, and I think I paid about 30 or 40 quid for them from Grand Prix Racewear in Chiswick, London. I think the ones I have are the 'Top Driver', they have the Top Driver 2 on their web site for 69.50, but there are bound to be cheaper options. Oh, and I'm also a size 12! Andy Quote
chrisbin Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 I use a pair of deck shoes.... Useful when it gets wet though..... Quote
CateringVan Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 I've just replaced my deck shoes with Sparco kart boots bought from a local race parts supplier because I wanted to try them on first. They are miles better than shoes because the edges dont catch when working the pedals. Mine are the k-mid ones inthe DT catalogue This is in a caterhum by the way, I dont know what the footwell of a Westy is like but in a 'van its bl**dy tight down there. Quote
steppenwolf Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 Sparco Kart boots from DT - really good value and great to drive in. What could possibly go wrong .......... Quote
dasamdy Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 RSM in Morecambe (is that spelt right?) are very good for OMP boots & assorted other bits of kit They advertise in CCC I bought a pair for £35 and there a massive improvement to trainers or such like Dave Quote
keithadams Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 A bit late - but try Grand Prix Racewear at Silverstone Circuit or Dread Ltd, 58 Alston Drive, Bradwell Abbey, Milton Keynes MK13 9HB tel 01908 221 666. Quite near to Daventry and much better to try on footwear rather than rely on mail order. Keith the Teeth Quote
robrob Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Try somewhere like Schuh - they have branches all over, and ask for the Puma / Sparco kerbcat. Thery're about £60 iirc. Rob. Quote
Liam Posted February 7, 2003 Posted February 7, 2003 Plimsols from the local Comprehensive lost property cupboard are cheap Quote
