I reckon this is a complete non starter. But I'll put it to the wider world.

SWMBO has bought a second set of wheels for her S2000. These were supposed to serve two purposes, firstly keep the car mobile while hers are refurbished and secondly the front tyres on the second set of wheels have got 6mm of tread and match the decent rears already on her car, ideal to replace her fronts which are past there best.

We went and picked them up in the pouring rain last night, a quick once over and lobbed them in the van. Tonight I have moved them from the back garden to the shed and upon closer inspection, the front tyres are not OE size, they are 205/45 instead of 205/55.

Now, this bloke didn't mention that in the auction, but them again, neither he mention the size at all

Gut reaction, says not a leg to stand on and suck it up.

fraid so Martin, time to ask questions is before you buy the item  ;)

they'll still fit so use them while the wheels are refurbished and then list 'em on eBay again  :D

yeah I would say you are right - no a leg to stand on  :(

if the advert stated what size they were supplied wrong you would have no problems

Not sure about "not a leg to stand on" more "not a wheel to roll on"

Very good...

:D

The only saving grace is they were so cheap, I reckon I can easily recvoer the money spent. A quick search on eBay shows a pair of new Toyo T1-R 205/45x16 is £135. These have 6mm on them, so I reckon somebody would snatch your hand off with a £60 buy it now price. A set of alloys has got to be worth £40 no matter how rough.

ETA: It had to happen one day, in ~120 transactions I have never once had a problem. So it was over due.
