New tyres needed

Dull question I know, but I've not been able to find much in the way of straight answers...

When I bought my Westy last summer, it came with crappy no-name tyres that I've decided have to go in the bin to make way for some more appropriate rubber.

The car (SEW) is used exclusively on-road, and I don't do too many miles so I'm looking for a sticky tyre rather than a long-lasting one. Currently the car has 195/55 R15's on the front and 205/50 R15's on the rear - but I don't see the need to stick with different sizes, and I'm not averse to re-calibrating the speedo or even changing to 13" wheels. I do occasionally drive in the rain.

Recommendations for tyres and suppliers please?

Cheers

Hi Andy,

Try the Yokohama AVS Sport, very sticky buy also good in the wet, if you go to Topgear is £66 each which is very cheap, they do mail order or they have a few distributors listed on their home page.

If you want to find the pro's vs con's of 13" against 15" alloys best conduct a search as it has been extensivly covered. The words 'weight', 'acceleration' and 'cost of tyres' comes up quite regularly  ;)

all the best
