DITCH Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 I know it's only a Garage Door........... but I am pleased as punch !!!!!! '' The Guy's from Rollerdor were brill, 2 1/2hrs to remove the old one and fit the new Roller Door. I will re route the wiring correctly, they just left it as I requested, the product is a quality unit as I expected, and workmanship as good. The only thing I will add now with "SWMBO PERMISSION"? is my remote control unit to finish the job off. '' Cannot believe the difference it has made compared with that old crappy up and over that gave me no head room, in which I have endlessly banged me head on!!!!!'' As promised, Photo's don't really do it justice......... Ditch. '' Quote
Lurksalot Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Hi Ditch, it looks good Trust me , I am not b***hing now and I am not slagging it off, you have got what they told you you would get although..... Do you have a manual overide in case of a power cut ? The door doesn't have any limit stop overide protection , they occasionally can flap like a roller blind if it misses the sensor. There is no safety edge on the door which senses obstruction. There is no I.R safety beam which senses for fixed obsatcles. Is there a safety brake/ tensioned internal spring to reduce pressure if used manually? Does the door have a remote courtesy light? Are the guide rails woolpile weatherstripped? Are the slatted ends bound with webbing to reduce stress on the interlocks. Ours have 3 curtain attachments at this size not 2. Do you have Rollerdor 2 yr warranty or the 5 year warranty that comes with Somfy motors? I fully expect to get a flaming , but I am not trying to P**s on your bonfire.... but you were 'sold' 75mm slats 'same as all the others' ......you got.........55mm slats . This is our 'compact' range and is less strong and secure and uses less insulation and material, only has 60mm guides and won't pass the police approval secure tests. Before you do one on me, are these the guys you bought it off ? Quote
Lurksalot Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 OK found it BUT it looks like they are not trading any more They are/were 'The garage door & awning company' www.gdaac.co.uk Norfolk IP256NG tel 01953886555. total price inc vat & delivery was £638 for an automatic, insulated roller door. chris sod it, there goes my 5 year guarantee. shame really was a good company. will try and ring them later to check. Hmmmm a little search finds this I guess they are completely unrelated, just local I am not paying for a report ,but I wonder if any common directors names pop up might be worth a punt Quote

Before you do one on me, are these the guys you bought it off ? Hi, I appreciate your very in depth comments/ Questions, below I have tried to answer all of them to the best of my knowledge / RollerDor's help, that you have raised : 1) Yes it has a manual override, I just removed the handle as it was an obstruction due to a single garage. 2) No IR Safety beam as it is key operated, and not remotely controlled, at the moment, "No Point"! 3) No safety brake/tensioner fitted, as it has a geared internal barrel motor ? 4) No courtesy light( As before not a remote system, No Point!) 5) The guide rails both side have a woolpile weatherstrip fitted 6) No webbing , they use end locks, as they feel that product works better. 7) I have a standard 2yr full warranty, against faulty product and or workmanship. 8) An Ellard motor is the preferred choice. Confused to say the least on your last comment ? I was sold 75mm slats and got fitted 55mm ? I don't think so, I have measured them and they are 75mm and approx 20mm thick cavity insulated type, exactly what I asked for !!!!!. I have 2 examples a 55mm and 75mm, they are worlds apart, No way would i have that rubbish fitted, which is about 8mm thick, and the gauge of the Alu is P**s thin as well. I am still very pleased with the end product, and would not hesitate to recommend RollerDor to any member of the WSCC, and I wouldn't do that lightly nor without the " Proof in the Pudding "!!!!! I am just pleased you have taken an interest in this specific forum. Ditch. '' Quote
housebeautician Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Hi Ditch It does look posh I suppose if it is the same firm (It does seem likely) and from the look of the pictures its the same as mine with the same spec only difference is the motor gear has a metal cover over it and makes it look better inside. Both my neighbor and i are very happy with our doors and considering the price, i cant knock it. After all it is only a garage and if someone really wants to get in it they will, whatever you fit. Im pleased you got a result, good luck mate Mind you i would get the remotes quick if i was you Tony Quote
Lurksalot Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Hi Ditch I may have missed a couple of points but it is in my area of expertise , you asked for advice and I offered it The safety/brake, leading edge and IR beam are safety components and I seem to recall that one or other should be fitted as for CE marking /construction products directive, although I am not sure if it is enforceable. Their website states 55 mm slats in the price of 699 but if you negotiated an upgrade, again well done. no mention of VAT anywhere though As for a companies status , well I guess that is up to them, so , Enjoy your purchase , and I shall stick to offering advice on Hurdsey's ginger cake and custard , which I highly recomend Quote
