May I add that at the end of this discussion we all agree to continue to be mates and forget our differences.

Life's too short to fall out over these opinions. Maybe we're all wrong or all correct. Maybe we'll never know what really happened.

i know what happened ! they didnt show the whole video .... why ? because it suited them not to ....why? to make a news story out of it ..... if they showed the whole video it probably would not even make a story ,why ? because s**t like it happens every day ,its what the feds are trained to do (shock tactics) to get people  out of cars before they can do any more damage/escape etc etc

Steve, I didn't want to say that as whilst it's probably true I don't know for sure.

However having been party to various departmental training (so we could work out demo scenarios for the Blue Light Show) what's shown on that video is basic training.

yes i believe it can be of great assistance to our troops to get vital info by force, the fact they are muslim is not important.

Because i dont agree with the the way some of these P**s takers behave in this country and our government and human rights allow them to carry on and take the P**s  dont make me a racist.

And because in this case i DONT agree with the violence levelled at this pensioner and in my eyes the police were taking the P**s dont make me anti police, its just easy for you call me that to justify your case, Quoting that debate and calling my posts violent rants is a joke and i'll treat the comments as such.

Because i dont agree with you, you seem to want to make it personal which is a shame really. But if you got to win a fight get down and dirty ;)

We probably wont know what really happened and if it takes its usual path the police will get away with it and the old boy will get a sixty pound fine and three points :bangshead:

Seems to me that reading both these threads that i cant stand P**s takers! ???

Goodnight all!

before i start i aint got no beef with anybody  :)

but imho you are seeing what you want to see in that shortend edited video, you are doing the old guilty then prove your innocence thing with the police , as said many times we dont know what really went on before this as its not been shown (for a reason) and stand back and ask yourself why ,its to make people like you do exactly what your doing in this thread ,have a very biased opinion against the police and have a blinkered view ,its been said he dont look like a pensioner he is driving a range rover with blacked out windows with an ilegal number plate ,he drove off from the police and failed to stop etc etc  , so what would you do in there position if you were there ,tap on his window when you eventually stopped him after driving off from the police once allready ! and quietly ask him to remove his keys and get out ,or would you use shock tactics as you have been tained to do ,to get the driver out before he drives off again and kills that little girl riding down the road   or shoots his ex wife for running off with his best mate ,who knows what he was doing in the first place, the police's job is hard enough these days with all the dickheads around ,they have to make snap decisisons every day of there life while on the job and they are human they cannot get it right every time( not that i am saying they are doing anything wrong in the video) ,but jesus when they get it wrong just that once , everyone is on there f*****n backs so fast calling for blood its ridiculous ,would you do there job ?  NO  i didnt think so

The point about jury service is this. Every case you sit in judgement on you will wonder why you're hearing this at tyhe conclusion of the prosecution. You will think the accused is bang to rights and should save you all the trouble by pleading guilty. You will then hear the defence and at the end you will have a different opinion or be confused and not be sure if the accused is guilty or innocent.

Good luck with your education in reality.

Norman, I haven't read the whole of this thread and don't intend to get into acrimonious arguments but I must agree whole heartedly with your comments on jury service. I did jury service many years ago and the first case was precisely as you say. I couldn't believe that the defendant was pleading not guilty after hearing the police testimony - it was cut and dried. Then we heard the defence. It was as if the jury had been transported to another court on another day! The similarity was almost limited only to the names of the accused - the account of events differed wildly from the prosecution's case. As it happens, the trial was aborted before its conclusion for technical reasons so we didn't have to return a verdict, I'm glad to say because the nasty looking characters in the public gallery who had been treated to a disclosure of the jury members' home addresses and names at swearing in time, seemed to my (then) youthful paranoid mind to be likely to turn up on my doorstep in the darker reaches of the night with 'new evidence' for me to consider!

There was an advert on the TV a few years ago. It may have been a police recruitment campaign. You see a black man running through the street, pushing people out of the way and knocking into a market stall. There is a uniform policeman apparantly giving chase. You are led to believe that the uniformed officer is chasing the black villian.

The camera then goes to a wider view and you realise that the black man is a CID officer who has now caught the white villian and the uniformed officer has caught them both and is watching.

Well it was something like that.

Pity it seems to have failed to get it's message across.

It was an ad for 'The Guardian' trying to advertise its ability to look for the story from all angles. Pretty rich from a newspaper when even 'The Independent' isn't!

Ah, OK, but it's relevant to some views portrayed here.

Indeed it is. I spent many 'happy' years trying to reconcile customers' complaints to the facts observed once I arrived on site. As with jury service, one wonders if the two halves of the story are on the same planet sometimes. General Rule No.1:- Whatever you are told will bear little or no resemblance to the reality.  :bangshead:

On one of my jury stints we had a young student who was accused of snatching a handbag and running through Barking underground staion with 2 policemen in hot pursuit. he was accused of running down the stairs (no escalator) along platform one, through the interconnecting tunnel on to platform two and into the waiting room. On his way into the waiting room he threw an object into the waste bin. He was arrested.

The other side.....

He had a 1 foot stack of books under his arm. He had a fellow student (not known to him at the time) state that he had been in the waiting room at least 5 minutes. The stairs and platforms were packed with people it being 5pm. Then to cap it all when the policeman was asked what state the defendant was when arrested he swaers on oath that he was quiet and aclmly sitting there reading a paper. After running down the stairs, along the whole length of a platform through the tunnel and along half platform two he was quiet and calm. Not panting, sweating and out of breath!

The trail was reheld as we couldn't bring in a verdict. Even though the judge allowed a 11-1 when we couldn't get a majority I had (I was foreman) two jurers who stated "He's black - he'll do"

I'm sure the police chased a black man who had snatched a handbag. But it wasn't the one in front of us.
