pistonbroke Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 QUOTE M.S. had helped Ferrari become world champions. Backed by Fiat millions spent on technology plus the talents of masterminds Ross brawn and Jean Todt may have helped a little , not forgeting a little help from Ferrari International Assistance Race performance not good No2 driver gets Podium Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Are you a journalist Bernie you seemed to have completely missed the bold helped and made up your own idea of what I said Well done Nico great drive. But then again he was not the only one Button, Hamilton, Webber and others drove great races. Quote
FW500 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I find it a little sad that you try to cling on to Schumacher's relatively poor performance this year as some sort of example of how utterly rubbish he really must have been Bernie. As for the Fiat millions - I guess while they were blowing all their cash on supporting Schumacher's lack of talent all the other teams were saving their pennies and Adrian Newey was saving all his great ideas for the future? You're a funny guy. Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 No mate didn't miss that , just pointing out that it takes more than a good driver to win a championship/s . Schumaker had the best that money could buy whatever state ferrari were in when he joined , the massive resources were all there . Henry Ford won Le mans by spending millions to beat Ferrari who at the time were a relatavely small Co. Contrast with Bruce Mclaren , when he came over from NZ to join the Cooper team he was pointed towards a pile of steel tubes and a welding set , "there you go mate" "its all yours", within a couple of years Cooper cars went on to win 2 world constructors and driver championships. Other winning teams like Stewarts Tyrell built in a Woodshed. OK there from different era's but ther's a bunch of drivers who given the resources that schumi had would have had as much success , well perhaps not as much because I dont think they would have been so desperate to win as he showed at times The question remains , how good is Nico ? He is either exceptionaly good in a mediocre car or the car is very good and he is average . Whatever the answer, he is seen to be beating his 7x WC team mate fairly comprehensively. Sterling Moss was one of the greatest drivers ever , yet he never won a single WC . Sorry to see Micheal struggling to keep up , not what most people expected . Personally think he should have stayed at home and rested on his considerable laurels Quote

Thats a silly remark , I never said or never thought he was "rubbish" just he was not a true sportsman and that at least 2 of his titles were won under very dubious circumstances . Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I see you just chose to ignore it at the time. Bernie was all the wealth in F1 with Benetton in 94/95? Just wondering Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Sorry , I did forget to mention Micheal "helped" Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne to win 2 WC's with them. Before they all left for Ferrari mezula land Quote
