slippy Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Random question but here goes Got one those new fangled loo's with the dual function flush things but unfortunately it's constantly leaking/weeping into the pan for some reason Anything obvious to check before I phone the plumber/bathroom supplier and play f*** Thanks in advance Quote
nearly done Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 just fitted similar in my downstairs loo and had a small leak.Took the pan and cistern apart and had a good look, the problem was that glaze had been splashed over the area round where the big washer seals causing a small weep where the glaze was.If you cant remove the glaze a nice bead of silicone will help (just dont go over board). Also make sure all the big nuts on the syphon are done up tight. :t-up cheers,Sean Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Assume it's weaping into the pan from one of the water outlets around the rim as opposed to the joint between the cistern and the pan. If so then I would suggest it's the float that needs adjusting. Most of the dual flush pans I'm aware of use a vertical float as opposed to the old fasioned ball valve on a leaver arm. The float needs to be adjusted so that it shuts off the flow of filling water before it reaches the overflow level. If it's wrongly adjusted then it'll reach the overflow before the float shuts off the water flow fully and so it'll always weap slightly via the overflow into the pan. I can't tell you how to adjust it but if you take the lid off the cistern you'll probably find the water level is pretty close to the overflow at the top of the float tube. It should be pretty obvious what to do from there to fix it. Quote
JeffC Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 how-way man slippy its a Netty , surely even you can work out how one works , its hardys rocket science technology Quote
slippy Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 Marigolds on and in we go Stand by................................. Quote
housebeautician Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 if it is leaking into the pan ,it is probably the internal overflow and the float valve needs adjusting. if its leaking around the bottom of the cistern, then it is probably the doughnut not sealing properly. if your not sure call the plumber and speak to him nicely, i'm sure he will sort it for you. this can happen from time to time. its just annoying for all concerned. Keep smiling Quote
slippy Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 It's a Tecaz spesh Anyhoo I've adjusted the floatalready but have just adjusted fully to it's shortest setting, if that makes sense, and even though there is nothing coming out of the fill tube it continues to full form somewhere and eventually starts overflowing down the overflow tube and into the pan Hope that makes sense Quote
housebeautician Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Float sounds f****d. Wheres that plumber........................ Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Well if it isn't comming out of the fill tube but it's still filling with water then I'll guess that somewhere within that assembly theres a seal that isn't doing what it should be and letting the water through. Probably time to break out the spanners. Quote
Lurksalot Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 A quick trick is to spray the upper workings of the mechanism above the water line with WD40, sometimes happens with mine and the mechanicals get a bit slow at dropping the seal down , a good spray might sort it , and you may be able to adjust the linkage to drop the bottom seal a touch. Lurksalot Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Re- read the thread , and realised if the thing is still filling up after the float is fully lifted it could be a diaphram in the valve mechanism , pretty cheap at most plumberes merchants and a 2 minute change Quote
